Diet Menu Question
Hi Tim,
The paper work I brought home from the hospital (Dr. Dunnican and Dr. Singh work together so I'm sure it's the same for you) said day 15 you can move to full liquids and then soft mushed up food. Yogurt, SF pudding, cottage and ricotta cheese are a few that I started with. I think around day 10 I started planning what food I was going to have first. Stage two like stage one will last 2 weeks. I'm counting the minutes until I can move to the next stage.
Good luck
Dominique
every surgeon has their own formula which they pass on to their patients
i was only on liquids/pudding/yogurt for the first 7 days then went to puree
and have had no problems other than being bored with them. i will stay on puree for
4 weeks. Did your Dr's office give you a food plan to follow? If not i would call and see
if you can move to puree. I know they had to do more work on you but your staples
are out and your healing, i would at least ask the Dr's office.

As far as a list of things here is the options i was given
proteins chicken, tuna, fish the fish doesnt have to be processed
non fat cottage cheese, you can add a little lite mayo to the tuna
add non fat gravy to chicken, you can have mashed potatos
egg whites, creamed soups made withskim milk and blended
if you cook fish use pam and lemon juice only at this point
the meal plan i have is simple
breakfast... 4oz protien 4 oz liquid
snack protein shake (my dr lets me have lo carb slim fast)
lunch 4 oz protien 4 oz liquid
snack protein shake
dinner same
snack same
you should be taking something in every couple hours
in addition to the meal plan your are supposed to squeeze in 2 glasses
of water
you can also have sugar free popsicles and they can count towards liquid intake
there is more on the list and if you want let me know and i can send it to you

Hi Ken, you are the person I NEED TO TALK TO!!!!! Could you please send me the plan. The only thing I got was liquids (broth, popsicles, jello, milk). I was getting extremely bored with it all and just would think of what I ate last week. So, what I read is that Dr. O wants us on pureed foods for 4 weeks? How long for liquids 1 I hope. Please write back soon, I am about to gnaw off my arms just to get some sort of taste in me! Debbi
Tim,
Check with your dr & see what you're supposed to be having right now. Remember they have their rules for a reason & the last thing you want to do is damage or irritate the staple line or pouch. Please be careful!! You have been through so much already I'd hate to see you do damage you could have avoided!!
Good luck!!

Hi Tim,
Dr Clarke has us on clear liquids for 1 week, then purees and soft stuff. I ate and still eat lots of cottage cheese (with pizza sauce, peaches, sf jam, onion powder, ect) , yogurt, jello, pudding, mashed potatoes (altho I tried to stay away from these cause of the carbs and lack of protein), chicken salad and tuna salad...really moist... sf popcycles, creamed strained soups, potted meat, ect.
Good luck advancing. Go slow and listen to the doc!
