I just wanted to take a moment & wish all of the mom's here a Happy Mother's Day!! Most of my siblings & I are getting together some time today to celebrate Mother's Day. Our mom passed away about 5 1/2 yrs ago & her favorite way to spend Mother's Day was going to the Tulip Fest her in Albany. I remember going as a kid, spending the day looking at all of the amazing tulip beds (must be why they are my favortie flower) & then taking her to dinner somewhere (could've even been the local burger joint - she never cared). We all have such fond memories of it! We've talked about doing this & a few other things she used to take us to for years but never got around to it!! So, now that I don't dread walking around for hours anymore - hell, I actually enjoy it - we are going today to show my 4 yr old niece what "Grandma Carol" used to love to do!! It is a great place for kids - tons of activities - she will love it!! They will be coming in from the Boston area in a few hours & with all of them spending the night (yup 5 of us in a one bedroom apt - it's cozy but works - this place is huge) I don't know how much time I will be on-line this weekend!!! I am planning a special dinner either for tonight or tomorrow before they leave & I am going to have my niece help me make french toast for everyone tomorrow morning (it's my sister's fav) - can you see the mess already? I love it!!! I hope everyone has a great mom's day!!! Cece

Cece, sounds like you are really enjoying life!!!!One thing I always did even before the surgery was to live each day to the best.I would often stop and think how lucky I am at different times of the day, especially if I was doing things with my kids or jim. What is different for me after the surgery is that life no longer revolves around food.I too love to walk around the tulip fest and before the surgery I would look forward to all the vendors.Iam so happy that I no longer feel that way.You enjoy yourself with your family and stop every once in the while and think how lucky you are to have people that love you.Jim and I will be going to his families home to celebrate mom's day and his B'day (44 YEARS TO CELEBRATE).His family is crazy and fun so we should have a great time.Sunday we will stay at home and spend a quite day, pending on how I feel I might even play some ball with my boys.I am now one week postop and on puree foods and doing well. Last night I had a bad time allot of gas and felt like I wanted to puke.I think I drank to close to taking my protein, now I know not to do that.Otherwise I have been feeling well, walking 2-3 miles a day and trying to get rid of my extra 10 liters of fluid from surgery.HAPPY MOMS DAY ENJOY!!!!! Michelle ps. Jim says HI!!!!!

Michelle, I hope you enjoyed your mother's day - sounds like Jim stole your thunder with his shopping trip the other day... did he make up for it???  I had such an awesome day today!! They got into town a little later than expected yesterday so we decided to go out first thing this morning & I think it was a wise decision!!! Not only did I walk several miles - it was uphill & up the stairs at the amphitheater!! My sister was funny - she said she wanted to say something & hoped it didn't come off as condescending but she was so proud & impressed that I was walking the way I was & hell, I even raced my 4 yr old niece to "the next tree" (her little game) AND I beat her!! Woo Hoo!!! I am sure it wasn't graceful but dammit I was running!! I can't even remember the last time that happened!!!  Anyway - I am glad you are doing well & enjoying your new life too!!! Cece

Cece, I am so glad you and your sisters are getting together, you will have such a great time and create more memories, it is so important for you but for the kids, how they love to hear stories of when you were growing up!   I know you have been looking forward to this so enjoy!   Great to be able to walk and no have to stop and sit on every bench or not go at all isnt it?

I joined the gym yesterday and today am having my hair hi-lited sorta my own mothers day gift.   Tomorrow my daughter is working, but after that we are going to my moms for a bar-b-que so that will be nice, I will have quiet time in the morning and then spend time with my mom later. Each day is a new adventure - enjoy!!!!

I got home a few hours ago & had to put my house back the way it should be... always a joy to have everyone here but it is nice to have my quiet back!! We had a blast - I walked a couple of miles over the course of the day & even climbed up a few hills & raced my niece to the tree!! I beat her - go figure!!! Ok, I did have a little bit of a head start but she is 4 & I haven't run in god, 20 yrs!!! Chalk one up for the "old" lady!!! I hope you had a great day too!!! That bbq sounds awesome!! I miss that part of having a house... it's a little tough to bbq in an apt!!! The fire dept frowns on open flames on a balcony!!  Good luck with the gym... I am headed to Curves this week!! I am looking forward to it!!! I cannot wait to have my hair hi-lighted again!! We've backed off that until my hair calms down!! It's getting better... or at least today it looked better than it has been!! I switched shampoos & am using Nexxus products for thickening so maybe it works!! Oh well, as much as that part of this surgery bothers me I won't undo anything I did!!!  Enjoy the rest of your evening!! I am off to take a few tylenol (must be from sitting on the ground) & I am going to put my feet up for a little while!!! Cece

Cece,

What a great way to keep your mom's memory alive in the mind of her granddaughter.  I bet it would mean so much to your mom that here daughters and granddaughter were getting together for Mother's day weekend.  It seems that you niece means so much to you, so I hope that the weekend is a filled with great times.

Jim, We had an awesome time & I know my mom would've enjoyed it too!! The flowers were beautiful - tulips are my favorites & my sister has a great digital camera so she tried to get "artsy" & take a few pics of the ones I loved most!! I hope they print out as beautiful as the looked on her screen on the camera!! My nieces mean the world to me especially since I can't have kids of my own! Amelia is the only one within driving distance so I see her as often as possible!! The other 2 1/2 are in Florida so I don't get to see them often, although I will be flying down more often now that it isn't such a chore!! I am going in October!! I hope you had a great bday!! My dad's bday would've been tomorrow so when it used to fall on mother's day weekend we tried so hard not cheat my mom out of any of her glory!!!  Have a great evening!!! Cece
