My wonderful wife went to the store and purchased some broth for me to enjoy. She made sure it was low fat...but she did not remember to check the sugar. Evidentially, there is 1 gram of sugar in each serving. Is this ok for me to consume??

Generally the first year anything under 10gms is ok. You could try a bit and see if you tolerate it or you could find some sugar free and play it safe. 1gm is pretty insignificant, but you never know...

Glad to know you're home safe and well. Good luck.

Tim, So glad you're doing better! You should be ok with the broth. I personally hated the taste of it post-op (go figure, huh?) but give it a shot! Good luck!! Cece

Tim, Its hard to judge the "dumping" problem until you are on solid foods.  I was afraid to leave the house for the first couple of weeks on the liquid diet...I needed to be close to the bathroom..lol..it gets better.  It is trail and error for a while...hope you are feeling better. Rosemary

Hi Tim. I would say to go enjoy your broth. I don't think that the sugar is that significant. Besides, these might be the last times that you can even look at it again along with jello and a few other delicious items that we lived on constantly post op. Take Care.

Hi Tim, I bought a chicken broth that I like a lot called Better than Bouillon Chicken Base.  I got it at Hannaford.  I just checked the ingredients and there's no sugar in it (but I can't imagine 1g is going to matter).  But I did read that it has soy protein as one of its ingredients and I get nauseous with soy so I'm glad I looked.  It does have a great taste!
