Hey Everyone,

Thanks so much for the positive thoughts.  Michelle got out of surgery around 1100 this morning and everything went perfectly.  She says that her dry mouth is bothering her more than any of the surgical pain. Hopefully she will keep doing so well and will be on her way home on Sunday morning.

Let me tell you, it is much more stressful and anxiety producing to sit and weight to hear how the surgery went.

Jim, I am so glad everything went well!! I remember that dry mouth - I hated it!!!! Tell her to hang in there - hopefully some time today she will get the go ahead to start drinking!! I think my brother said the waiting was worse on him since I never seemed to be nervous at all!! He appreciated the fact that Dr Clarke came to him right before & immediately following the surgery so that made him feel better but what drove him nuts was the fact that it was taking so long to get me to a room - nothing I did just lack of private rooms at the time!!! He did say that they were very accomodating & even let him come say hi in the recovery room!!! I do like Ellis Hospital!! Please give Michelle hugs for me & let her know I am thinking about her!!  Cece

Michelle had her upper GI X Ray this morning and Dr. Clarke was there and explained the images to her.  Everything looks great!  So we threw out the mouth swabs and she has started sipping, so she is much happier.  The pain medication was making her too sleepy and she did not like the way it was making her feel, so they cut back the medication and she is felling better.  She has been walking, a little over a mile so far.

Dr. Clarke thinks she will be heading home tomorrow.

That is awesome news!! (I had forgotten about those god-awful mouth swabs!!! EWWW!!)  I am jealous - she got to see the images & had them explained... I didn't get any of that!!  Maybe it's just as well!!!  I did get to see Dr Clarke daily but he was so busy (and has been since) that he wasn't around for those tests. I guess I'd rather have a doc who's busy than sitting around twiddling his thumbs!!! Fingers crossed that she gets to come home tomorrow!! Cece
