Ok I know that I have seen this on here before but now it is almost my time so I am getting my ducks in a row and will be shopping this weekend. Can you guys tell me what protein powders you have liked? Thanks

Hi Tara, I, like you,  wanted my ducks in a row - pre-op and bought a variety of protein powders. I hated all of them POST OP! Money wasted. Early post op I drank Isopure ready to drink protein drinks they were *ok* - then, at 6 months post op - i found Achievone ready to drink protein drinks (I still drink 1 a day - -delish!) just now I have started using GNC cookie n cream protein powder - i mix it with hood chocolate calorie count milk and 2 tbs of PB2 (powdered peanubutter) - your tastes will change if you do buy anything buy it in the smallest amount available until you *know* that you like it!  hugs, Britt

Hi Britt.  I was disappointed to see your profile is now "private".  I view your inspirational updates weekly and find I've learned so much from you/them since I started this journey.  My recent discovery was this post on protein drinks.  I love the AchieveOne also and just ordered the PB2 to try.  A little about myself.  I had RNY on 10/19/06 and have lost 85 pounds...I need to lose 15 more to get to my goal.  I have been at an absolute stand still for 4 months!  I know some is my own fault but am really determined to do this by July.  Anyway, hopefully you can give me some advice and hopefully rethink your decision to go private.  I'm sure you must know what an inspiration you are to a lot of us out there - you actually remind me a little of "me"!!!  Barb

Hey Tara, (FYI --- if you want someone to know that you have replied to them hit the reply button on their original post - if you hit post reply at thevery top or very bottom of the page - you are replying to the post  in generaland not that specific person - I hope that makes sense????) I find the achievone locally at a specialty diet store- I used to buy them at www.bariatriceating.com. have a great day - Britt

I'm not a powder person. I like Myoplex premade shakes.  They come in a four pack. I also like Muscle Milk premade shakes.  They come in a four pack as well.

I also like the protein bullets but I'm not sure how well a newbie will tolerate them.  They're a bit gloopy. You should find all of this in any health store. Best of luck.

I can't vouch for it myself, (but I do plan on using it post op) but I have a few youtube "friends" that swear by a certain one. From what I read a lot of the protein powders/shakes are pretty yucky tasting. This one is "unflavored" and you can add it to pretty much anything.     You can see someone talking about it about a minute or so into this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbKTmm0HhmQ

A did notice in a GNC and Vitamine Shoppe they do have small, almost like samples of some of the protein powders for you to try.  I made the mistake of getting the Nectar brand, a big friggin jug that ran me over $30 and its awful.  A big waste of money.  Went to Walmart and in the same area as the Myoplex (EAS) ready made protein drinks they have powders also.  I found Body Fortress 100% whey protein in vanilla.  46 g of protein in 2 scoops.  it actually smells like vanilla.  Its a 2 lb jug and cost about $13.  I take mine and throw it in a blender with fresh strawberries and banana's then put it in 9 oz plastic cups and freeze them.  they make great "i feel like i am having a treat" protein snack.  I don't feel guilty sitting and watching tv with this snack.  I also took the myoplex chocolate and mixed it in a blender with a little ice and 2T of peanut butter and froze that too....really good.  You may not like a lot of the protein drinks/powders out there, so its all trial and error.  Also remember, what you may like this week, you may not be able to tolerate next week.  hope this helps.
