I have been considering surgery for a while now and have looked upalot of info on the subject.  i have decided on lapband and have an initial consultation on may 16 at albany medical center.   i have bsneny ppo (insurance).  i currently weigh 244 and am 5.4.  anyone have this insurance and how was it.

about the 10% weight loss.  this will put me under the 40% needed.  do they look at the initial weight when deciding.  I do not have dm2 or sleep apnea.  i only have sore knees which are getting worse. what can i expect at the initial consult. any input appreciated. thanks

i couldnt tell you if they are going to take your starting weight or your weight prior to surgery plus with no co morbidities it might be even harder??

The longest of Journeys start with a single step

I am not sure but I think it is the starting weight that matters for the approval.  I have no idea about the insurance issue, I am sure albany med will be able to give you some information.

Best of luck with your journey.

Hi Jim! I see that you are from B.Spa.  One of my old college buddies lives there with her 2 daughters.  Are you anywhere near the Malta exit off the Northway?  She lives off of Fox Wander East.  Anyway, you had answered one of my Q's here before and I just wanted to say hi.  Did you have your surgery yet and how is your progress?  I am 18 months post-op, stagnant and now looking into skin removal.  My gf from B.Spa will probably come down to take care of me when i have this done.  She was with me post-op after my RNY.  I like it up there and visit often.  Do you have a good support team up there in the Albany med?
