Switching Surgeons... what would you do?

So I just saw that the original surgeon I was shooting for may be taking my insurance finally. I have pretty much done the whole pre op process with another surgeon but insurance said no that they needed more info, so I have been working on that and may be done finally. Now the current surgeon, we'll call him Dr. A, isn't as experienced or well known as the one I had originally aimed for, which we can call Dr. B. Dr. A has been nice and seems like he knows what he is doing, but should I change over to the other surgeon, Dr. B, knowing he is well known and has a very good reputation in the WLS field? Another issue, or not, is that they both work in the same office, eek! I always found it a bit weird, because Dr. A, works in Mt Sinai Hospital (nyc) but is not part of their Surgically Slim program, which heads the wls, but Dr. B is part of the program, and I just never understood why Dr. A isn't part of the program and there seemed to be confusion when Dr. A sent me to the pre op info session that was headed by Dr. B, and he was un-sure why Dr. A's patients were there. Would there be conflict between them if I decide to switch? I have not seen Dr. A in over a year, as I had to work on getting my paperwork with my PCP. But surely he'd find out. Or do they not care? I don't, I'm just overly cautious on how I handle these sort of situations, and I don't want to be rude or look bad for switching. I just want to be sure I get the best care possible. What do you think? What would you do? Has anyone been through anything similar? (cross posted

I 'd go with the surgeon you feel who you are in the BEST hands possible with. I am sure all of the paerwork can be transfered! You *need* to do what makes you feel most at peace. Switching your surgeon is acceptable - you won't be the first and certainly not the last. It may not be a comfortable thing to do or say ... but you *can* do it!  Congrats on your journey - I wish you a text book surgery with amazing results :)  hugs, Britt

Jaieni,

I work with several surgeons and I really doubt that there would be a problem with switching physicians.

By the way, you are a customer for the group and therefore what is in your best interest should come first.  You must do what you feel is in your best interest.  Dr. A is a big boy and I doubt he will give it a second thought.

I really feel that this surgery is all about what works best for you & that includes not only the type or surgery but the drs & staff too!! I chose the dr I felt the most comfortable with even though he wasn't the most convenient!! I really like him & their program is just as good as the other one!! So bottom line is - do what you feel is best for you!! Like someone else said they're all big boys & will get over the fact you chose someone else over them - it happens all the time!! This has to be all about you so go for it!!! Good luck!! Cece
