I had a RNY in Sept. "07.  Thus far I am down 150 lbs, with 70 more to go.  I dropped my initial weight very quickly, and had no problems.  My 3 month blood work was all normal.  About a month ago, I started having these attacks where when I am cleaning house, vacuuming, doing anything involving bending over and coming back up quickly, I almost black out.  The world goes dark and I have to hold on to something to prevent myself from fallng down.  My head spins for awhile after I can see again, but I am scared to death!!  Has anyone had this before?  I am taking my MVI and calcium as well as pushing the protein, with out supplements, I'm trying to do it with food alone as my doctor wants.  Could this be B-12 deficiency?  I have been researching the symptoms and I don't see anyhwere the blacking out.  Any advice from anyone? Thanks so much!! Michelle

Michelle, congratulations on your AMAZING weight loss! Are you on blood pressure meds?  Many times we can cut way down and evenutally cut it out altogether. (w/medical guidance).  Low PB definately can cause what you describe.  Call/Email Dr. Holover ASAP; yo don't want to fool around with this.  Let us know what happens!

Michelle, Congrats on your weight loss!! You're doing amazing!!! Karen is right - definitely call your Dr right away!! I had issues with dizziness about 2 weeks post op - I was on bp meds w/ a diuretic & it turned out that the diuretic sucked the potassium right out of my body... my level was extremely low!!! They cut my bp med in half & removed the diuretic altogether!! My pcp told me it was a good call to trust my instincts & call her!! You defintely need to have it checked out!! Good luck!! Cece

Michelle:
This is something I'd recommend you disccuss ASAP with your medical provider. It may have nothing to do with a nutritional deficiency and sounds more medical! Please keep us posted..Could be orthostatic hypotension as Karen pointed out, reactive hypoglycemia comes to mind as well...so best to be assessed medicaly, then check back in with us ok! Jamie

I agree with everyone. You need to contact your doctor, either Dr. Holover or your PCP, about this problem. It sounds like low blood pressure to me too. Don't wait....you don't want to find yourself passed out with nobody around for help. Please keep us informed. Hugs, Lisa

Thank you all so much for the advice.  I have made an appt. with my doctor.  I was on BP meds when I went in for the surgery, at the hospital, they cut the dose in half, by a month later, I was off completely.  I guess it still could be getting low....it was 94/49 at one of my endoscopies.  I will keep you all informed.  Thanks for the caring words and encouragement.
