Just ran my first 5K...can you believe it, I can't!

Hi guys, Just wanted to share that I just ran my very first 5K today.   120 heavier, that would have NEVER been possible.  It is something I've always wanted to do.  (now I can cross that off of my bucket list!)  I will probably continue to run more!  But hope to increase me speed a bit.  It was a REALLY cold morning here on Long Island, so it didn't make the run any easier! Anyway, I wanted to publicly thank Britt and Debbie (2 RNYers) for running it with me!  Britt stood at my side the entire time (I know she can run a hell of a lot faster than we did today) but she did so to encourage me, and boy did she!  The entire run she was like "Maryellen, I am so proud of you!" and "You are doing great!" and when we had to run up hill...her words were "God is going to help you up this hill, his hand is on your back now giving you a gentle little push!"  OMG, she ROCKS!!!!!  Thanks Britt!  You are the best!  You and Mary from OH (although I' ve never met Mary) have been a HUGE inspiration to me when it comes to running!  I know I am a sucky runner!  But, hey, I did it, right?  LOL.   So, here I am all pumped up and ready for more!!! Thanks for sharing, I'll post some pics soon.

Maryellen, Congratulations!! What an awesome accomplishment! You made a New Year's Resolution to run a marathon and did it!! You must be so proud of yourself!! I am proud of you too! You are a true inspiration to all of us (You too Britt!) Hugs and congrats again! Lisa

Maryellen, It is awesome and emotional - I still get emotional and incredibly thankful everytime I cross the finish line.  I didn't know about the magazine (my subscrption ran out), thanks for letting me know. Congrats to you and Karen! Mary

Maryellen, You are a role model for me!  I think it is incredible that you set this goal and went out and achieved it.  You must be so excited, I can't imagine even thinking about running a 5 K at this point in my journey.  I am not a runner, but maybe it would be something I would enjoy when I get down closer to my goal weight. Keep up this great work! Jim

Thank you Jim, your day will come too!  I also am not a runner, but it was something I wanted to be able to say I did, and boy did I!

YAY Maryellen, Congrats on completing your first 5K. . I knew you could do it!
