I was not able to get released sooner cuz on wed. i went down for my upper gi ...leak test to see if i had any leaks and stuff.. well no leaks.. but the fluids stayed right in my stomach ..and didnt drain down to the intestines, so i had to stay 2 extra days... it didnt drain cuz it was too swollen still.. but now im sipping my liquids, havin a bit of jello here and there and just taking it really slow,.... i will get back on here when i get home,, i will be home tuesday after my post op appt. ..... talk to you all laters!!!!

Tim, I actually had 2 drains at home for a week post-op. Ask your surgeon, each doc performs the procedure a little different. Good luck, Lisa

Tim, Dr Clarke and Dr Singh usually do not send their patients home with the drain, they take it out before you leave.  Just ask him!!!

Tim, As Kristy said everyone has a drain.    Mine was removed the next afternoon after surgery.   Although it is my undertanding that most are removed the day you go home.   Of course each doctor and individual are different.   But that is how it went for me.

Good luck!

Michelle.

I never had a drain, this is a surgeon prefereence and sometimes depends on how the surgery goes..
