Hi, I'm taking the first step to WLS. I have an appointment in April with Dr. Cole in Elmira to see if I would be a good candidate for surgery. I currently take meds for HBP, Cholesterol, and I have well over 100 lbs to loose. My insurance should cover the entire cost and I have been trying to loose weight with my PCP but it's been over a year and I am not getting anywhere--very frustrating since I lost 125lbs 8 years ago with diet and exercise and then I hurt my leg and guess what----the weight came back and then some...So I'm just saying HI and looking for some encouragement.

I'm from the Binghamton area.

Hi -- Welcome to the  NY Board.  You will find so much information, support and advice here.  We've all worn the same shoes and have pretty much the same story.  You are absolutely in the right place to educate yourself on this long process.   Wishing you all the best -- Maria

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I'm glad I decided to make this step. I want to make sure I'm around for a long time because lately I have felt as if my weight problem would result in my death--I'm worried about all of the negative side-effects of being overweight and I am really starting to feel them take their toll on me. I feel this step is the only way to save my life. I look forward to speaking more with people on this forum and getting guidance from everyone as I take this journey to a better me.
