5 weeks out
It isn't just you. I now eat foods that I didn't like before surgery. Onions and peppers are one--I put them in anything that I can and before I wouldn't eat them at all. You will find that your taste changes alot. It takes alot to get used to learning the new chewing, but you will get it. Good luck. Christine
I think at 5 weeks out you have to make sure you chew really, really, really well & make sure things are moist (i.e. gravy or sauce or ketchup if you're desperate on proteins). You might not be able to tolerate some of the foods yet - go easy & be careful!!
I have noticed that my tastebuds changed... I love Guldens Spicy Brown Mustard & pre-op would buy the store brand but after surgery I can't stand the store brand... it has an odd after-taste so now I only buy Guldens!! Go figure!!!
Life has changed & you're just starting to experience the changes!!!

Congratulations on your surgery! I know that different surgeons have different protocols with when and how to reintroduce foods. Keep in mind that your stomach and intestines are still in early recovery and may still be swollen and irritated. If you are having some tolerance issues this may be your body's way of asking you to revert to more mushy foods (eggs, yogurt, cottage cheese, puddings, etc) for a bit more time to allow more healing to occur. Eventually, you will find this gets less and less. Listen to your body and give it the time it needs to heal. You will do great.
Take care,
Amy
