eating before surgeory
I was just wondering if anyone here ate alot before the surgeory, meaning the last 2 weeks or so knowing that your taste might change or that you will never be able to eat certain things again?
Is it just me...my doctor never told me to loose weight before surgeory..I have actually gained 5 lbs and Im scheduled for surgeory on the 12th of march...start liquids on sat.

I was on Medifast (liquid diet) for 12 weeks pre-op but I was allowed a lean & green meal at dinner time so you can your bottom that I made the best of that meal 2 weeks before my surgery but the week right before I behaved a bit more... I wasn't perfect but I tried!!
I had to lose 40lbs before surgery so I wasn't about to blow the hard work in one week. I also found that by being on that diet all that time I lost the desire for some of the junk I ate prior... go figure!!
Good luck!! You're going to do just fine!!

I had to lose 10 lbs prior to surgery and my surgeon threatened to CANCEL surgery if I kept having "last suppers". It is in your best interest not to indulge. You should be focusing on shrinking your liver so that your surgeon can get to your stomach area more easily and without complications. Otherwise, you may just have to be opened instead of lap. You will eat again. It all comes back eventually and becomes a challenge. Do not fear the hunger for there isn't any after surgery. It's all in your head. Keep things light prior to your surgery. It's for you own good. I met with Dr. Adaniel for a 2nd opinion and chose someone else for my surgery. He didn't appear to be an independent thinker when it came to my special cir****tances. But that's a story for another day. Don't deprive yourself but try to eat half of what you normally would.
