The importance of chewing...my day in the ER
You know, Rachelle, he really is. And the funny thing is, one of the reasons I picked him is that he's close colleagues w/the PS who did my mastectomy/tram-flap reconstruction. Well, now that I've lost most of my weight, the area on the abdomen that the reconstructive tissue was taken from needs to be repaired, so both of them will be operating on me together--there are no coincidences! So I'm seeing the PS on Wednesday and Garber on Thursday.

Karen,
Wow, I know that had to be scary and I am glad you do not have an obstruction! I hope this passes and you will be back on your way. I know that at times it lets us know we had this surgery even though we feel "normal" I guess that is a good thing!
Let us know ~hugs~

Karen,
I am so sorry you went through that!! I hope you are feeling better!! I think we get used to this tool & forget what we are supposed to do & that was, well, a not-so-subtle reminder to slow down!!! I was eating lunch today & took 2 bites of my turkey & all of a sudden it hit me that I had better stop & cut that darn meat up or I was going to be in pain quickly!!!! Once I cut it up it forced me to slow down again & take smaller bites!!! I thought of your story & I didn't want to go down that road!!!
Isn't amazing how the kids come through when you least expect them too?!! He sounds like a wonderful young man!!!
Take it easy!!
