Ok....so I got up this morning...took my BP med, thyroid med, and Meridia. I am honestly thinking about dropping meridia seeing that the 5 mg is not as effective as the 10 or 15mg. I have drank a 20 oz botte of water...had a a sausage patty, a slice of cheese, and a cup of OJ. I got to the gym early today because my UNREALISTIC goal was to work out all day. I DID stress UNREALISTIC for a reason. 40 minutes into my workout....my knee decides to spazz out on me. No problemo..I am a professional. I got to analyzing myself and I have come to the conclusion that I analyze too much. I have also come to the conclusion that I should talk to my doctor about going back on fluid pills. I have also decided to talk to him about my knee. surely he can give me a shot or something. I am in serious agony over here. anywho...I am trying to talk myself out of going to AMC to get a 2nd opinon on the weight thingy.....I mean, COME ON...surely, the GF hospital ER room is off by atleast 5 lbs.....that or my working out is really not helping me at all. My wife and I keep getting stuck in the snow...the car that is. I have had my fair share of falling and slipping and shoveling and aching and UGH....I just want to feel good about me again. I hate to complain..but hey..like I said...I am a professional.

yeah...I think I am going to get my stuff together and head to albany. Or....Am I?

I don't know. I just need to lose 10 lbs! I go again to see Carrie on the 5th...but I want to be at my weight before then.

Maybe I should just go do some more exercising.

I did 3 miles on that hand bike thing since my knee is in NO mood to do anything .

I did 10 min on one of those high steppy bike thingies....that got me sweating so hard...I still taste like salt....not that I lick myself or anything....ok....a better way to describe it is to say "I feel salty."

Maybe the pool would help?

I don't think I can do a mile upstairs on the track and the treadmill is out of the question due to my really sore knee.

Oh...the hot tub!!!

but if I do that...I would have to take off my sock....and that requires bending my knee.

maybe I can go to albany and THEN come back and hit the hot tub

I don't know. I do know that my throat hurts, my knee hurts, and my mind is stuck on a stupid scale number.

STUPID GF scale!

STUPID EVERYTHING BUT ME.....

So, like I said previously

First I have to say that you have a great sense of humor. Even though there was a serious nature to your post you still find ways to make things really funny. You need to not be so consumed by the numbers on the scale. The GF one might be off,... might not. But if you have been working out that might be the answer also. I you are building muscle then you could have a temporary weight gain. But that is ok.. it is all for the better good. I think you were onto something with the whole pool idea. That would be a lot less taxing on your joints and you can still get a great workout. Well I hope that you can put those scale thoughts aside and not let it get you down. Sounds like you are making great strides. Good luck.

Dr. L says I needed to "forget the pool" and workout like on a bike, or walking, etc. I actually enjoy walking upstairs. It DOES hurt afterwards....but not in a bad way. Besides, I am a mile marker for those running. One lady told me that she enjoyed me walking up there...it gives her motivation to count how many times she passes me rather than how many laps she ran. I think that is a good thing.

I just got out of the pool. Well...actually, I got out a few minutes ago and then changed and got my stuff together. I think about 3 hours work out is good for today.

One of the PT here at the Y was the victim of me complaining at myself. He said that it sounds like the LCL in my left knee and that my "gate" is pretty messed up. :-0 was that a compliment or what?!!

Don't mind me....I am just complaining. I think I WILL go to Albany and compare scales.

this may sound stupid...but if I am trying to lose weight...and exercise makes me gain weight because I am building muscle mass....can I tell the deitican at the next appointment that I am not overweight but underdeveloped?

Well...Prayerfully, I will step up to the Plate.....belly up to the bar....uh...better not....

I should slither up to the saucer???

This is why I should blog....

ARRGGHHHHHH

I need a Mountian Dew....with a large deep dish pepperoni pizza. THAT oughta help me nerves....

What do they put in cough drops?

Ok...ENOUGH.....

RESTRAIN YOURSELF!!

Hey funny guy. Your heart is in the right place and you certainly seem determined. Try to stop with the scale and head for the pool which seems like a good idea with your knee problems. No matter what...keep on movin' Good Luck.

well the doctor needs to take into account that your knee is hurting and therefore the pool is the best for that. You don't want to hurt yourself more or have a setback in just not exercising at all.  And I agree you should have a blog and post it. I think you are hysterical.

There are so many scales at the GF Hospital, I was there today and it was like 2 lbs off for me in the ER, the rolling scale they have there (I was at school and we were all weighing ourselves, lol).  Try to go online and buy a few boxes of medifast... drink just 5 shakes a day for 2 weeks, you WILL drop the weight FAST.  That is what we have to do at Ellis... I lost 15lbs my first week and 5 my 2nd week and that was 4 shakes and a small meal.  You can get it at medifast.com.  I will admit it is not at all easy, the hardest thing I have ever done, BUT it works!!!  Good luck!

Your sense of humor is so great! I am sorry to hear that you're suffering so much. We all have had our struggles with the scale and while I'm so sympathetic to your frustration, I want to remind you, as so many have reminded me, that this journey is only partly about what the scale says. This pre op period of diet-generated weight loss is a huge period of learning to set you up for your new life after surgery. The challenges that you face now will still be there after the majority of your surgery generated weight loss occurs, and each time you find a workable solution, that solution will still work for you in the future. The emotional eating, the reliance on the numbers on the scale, the struggles with exercise and making healthy food choices will always be issues for us. Instead of focusing on the scale, use these months to learn about how you can make permanent changes in the way you relate to food, movement, and feelings. The scale has a mind of its own. Exercise, sodium intake, and food choices can all affect what it says.

Just keep doing what you know is right, and learning from your mistakes. You will do fine.

And keep laughing! How totally awesome!

Hugs,
Amy

I was on Medifast also and it does work really quickly. The only thing is that they say you should have your bloodwork monitored because it can affect your electrolytes. But it certainly helps jumpstart the weightloss. I got a really good deal on it on Ebay. So you should check there
