So far so good (knock on wood! lol), as I said before everything went great in the hospital and continuing at home. I have had alot of support and help from family and friends. I have been getting in my 64 oz. of water each day, walking around the house, and following doctors orders. Today I am one week post op and could begin pureed foods, I did not have a problem with the ricotta cheese or cottage cheese, also had 1 little yogurt. Tomorrow I plan to try a poached egg, the way I look at it if one thing does not work, try something else but retry it in a week or so. I have been given a wonderful tool as a result of the surgery and now it is up to me to use it to the full extent! I did speak with my insurance company and found a toll free number I can call 24 hours a day for help - they have had training in Bariatrics - and if they cannot answer the question they will have a dietician call me back. Of course my nutritionist at Ellis and the doctors office is only a phone call away! I have been reading different boards and seem to be learning so much and looking up great recipes for the future!

Hi everyone....Yes I am doing OK. i wish I was as lucky as Michelle to be able to eat something !!!!!!!!! I did call my dr today because I have been feeling very weak from just liquids. Now I can have carnation instant breakfast NO Sugar Added four times a day with 8oz ff milk. After having that one time I feel less weak. I know that everyday is getting better. I am still very sore on my left side. I am very happt I did this I questionit at first but, everyday I can see a difference in the way I feel. I know eventually I will be able to eat real food LOL. I will always be thankful that my insurance company did not give a hassle for the operation to be done. I am also thankful for the support I have rec'd through my friends here at OH and the Saratoga group. I look to the experinced WLS patients and KNOW that the sky is the limit. Thanks Guys
I am glad things are getting better, I go to the doctor on Friday for my postop and then start my protein powder. Where did you find the SF Carnation Instant Breakfast - I think I saw it at Walmart at one time. Are you able to keep that down?
I agree the sky is the limit ! See you at the next group in Saratoga. Michelle
My BF went to store for me I think Hannaford in HF. It is not SF it is No Sugar added in Blue box that is what dietetion said to get it. & grams of sugar BUT it is swettended with splenda. I drank it. I ahve not been sick once since surgery. I keep everything down. Thank God!!! I did not dump from it either. i have to say I feel much better since drink it. Good luck at DR. It is so weird to me thay our dr are so different??? I do not see my dr until 2/28. Were you open up for surgery?? See I was nopt maybe that is why I am waiting so long. Also you get to EAT!!!!! I do not OH Well I am glad your food is staying down too. Bridgit
Even drinking some skim milk may just do the trick w/o added carbs and calories! Be well.

I will check at Hannaford tomorrow as that is on my list for foods I can have, I was allowed pureed after 1 week, believe me I do not eat much and the ricotta cheese tastes the best. Drinking lots of water. I did not have the open procedure, the same as you laproscopic. Each doctor does things different as you can see on here, as long as we all do fine I guess that is what counts.
When do you start pureed foods? I am staying with protein and very few carbs. I have lost all that I gained in the hospital and a few more pounds! So far so good.
Michelle...
Congrats to both of you!!! I agree with JAmie about CIB.... it is crap in a box, I did a term paper for nursing school on it. My surgeon recommends beneprotein, found online or at walgreens. a scoop 3-4 times a day on what you eat. that provides a good amt of protein, and the rest you can get from the food you eat. Lisa also suggested to me peanut butter... eat it by the teaspoon... great protein there. I am so proud of you guys... I cant wait to be where your at! Michelle, I will call you, been REALLY busy with the kids off of school, I have beneprotein for ya if you dont have it, and a box of the calcium things for you!!! I gotta stop by! Keep up the good work girls!
Kristy
Kristy, I was going to call but figured you would be busy busy with the girls! I am doing good as you can see and have heard that about the CIB and will not be buying any. Looking forward to trying new foods. So did you get everything straightened out with your insurance and get a new date? Yes please do call!!!! I am going out tomorrow to get groceries with my sister and then have my doctor visit on Friday....talk soon. Enjoy the vacation with the kids and your vacation from school!
