Boy, I wish I was that lucky!!  My hair has always been straight and fine.  I didn't lose much after surgery, which I am thankful for.  My hair is a dark blonde, light brown, so you can already see my scalp.  I have been keeping it a little shorter and trying to go to the salon more regular to keep a style instead of pulling up in pony tails. Enjoy your curls, they luck cute!!

Luckily, I didn't lose much. At first I thought it was a lot and actually thought I would have to start shopping for a wig. But now it's just so .....different.

No, Rachelle, you're just weird.  Sorry, I HAD to say that. Funny, my hair's been doing that 6-8 week thing too--I guess it's the age. Seriously, mine did get a lot thinner, but the texture didn't really change.  The thinning was the worst between months 4 & 6,  but seems to have tapered off. Now that your post made me think about it, I remember that when I was about 20-21, after losing a lot of weight, my hair went from very curly like yours is now, to being straight with a little wave.  No hormones, nothing except the weight loss.  Go figure.  Yours looks great--a perm without those harsh chemicals! hugs,

LOL....I was waiting for someone to comment on the weird thing...LOL

I'm thinking that it might be hormones that affect the texture of hair. When I have more time, I'm going to research that and I'll post what I find out. I find this stuff so interesting. could it be hormones, protein? could it be that I'm not malnourished? idk

Hi Everyone,  I have to chime in cuz this has really been a huge concern for me too.  I am really losing hair!  I have all along made sure I got in the 50-60 grams of protein a day and I just started a week or so ago taking the highest dose of Biotin I could buy.  I hope that helps me one day!  I am getting ready to have another surgery (Hysterectomy)  I have Uterine Cancer.  I have complete peace about the surgery and look forward to never having to have a period again but man I am so bummed out about what it is going to do to my hair!  I think the reason my hair has fallen out and thinned out is cuz this is my FOURTH surgery in one year.  First I had my Gall Bladder removed.  Then that really started me considering having weight loss surgery and I did.  Then in Dec. I had to have a DNC/Ablation and thats when they found I had the Cancer... grrrr now I have surgery again on the 18th.  I just wish I could not care so much about my hair.  I really don't wanta be bald... and I know its just hair but this one is hard!  Sounds loopy huh? I have cancer ( thankfully its 100% curable) and I'm all concerned about my hair!???? HELP! LOL  I am not even going to color it again for the next 6 months.. just going to let it go gray to give it a break!  oh well hybernation time hehehe! Soon to be the next Dolly Parton ( sport'n wigs) Sandra

Hi Sandra,

I'm so sorry to hear about your cancer. That's gotta be hard to deal with. Thank God it's curable and it's operable. You'll have to let us know when you go in so we can all pray for you and send you our positive vibes.

I don't think it's strange that you worry about your hair. You need to focus on something, at that's a good one. Hey, ifyou have to wear wigs...so what! There are some really nice ones out there.

All the surgeries you've had most definitely play a part in your hair loss. I've found nothing concrete that says biotin works, but higher protein has worked for many. I've upped my protein a bit and average 100 gr per day on most days. I also make sure that I eat veggies. Maybe some of these will help you.

Thank you Purple P, I really appreciate your prayers at this time.  My surgery is scheduled for Feb. 18th.  My Weight loss surgeon is going to be assisting my Oncologist in the procedure.  They are going to do it Laperscopically and Lord willing won't have to open me up.  I am very thankful to Dr. Rivera for being willing to help.  Two Surgeons are always better than one and Dr. Rivera has already had some knowledge of my body so I think its great!  My doctors here in New York have all been so awesome I know that is just God's mercy for me! Dr. Rivera suggested that I start to get more Protein before the surgery to fight any infection off.  So for the last couple weeks I have been adding a bottle of Isopure and it has 40 grams of protein so I am getting roughly 90-100 grams of protein in.  I Hope that and the biotin help the hair!  I can only pray!???  lol I do know I can ware wigs and I honestly will if it gets that bad but I hope it doesn't, shoot I haven't lost enough weight  feel like it is worth it yet LOL  I've just lost enough that people are noticing but not enough to be healthy! Your hair looks great and you are so fortunate! I'm sure its all the protein you are getting!  good job! Sandra
