Has anyone that was on medifast experienced bad heartburn mainly to the side under the breast area. I had to have something to eat the other day it was low in fat but I got some pretty bad aching in my chest and took some mylanta and it subsided. I have had it for a few days now. It calms down and when I have a shake it flares up again. I am two weeks into medifast and have lost 14 lbs. and I have to say that I have to have alittle something to eat even a piece of broccoli to get through the day. I just hope the important thing is losing weight and not being totally strict for any other reason on medifast. I feel that by eating a meal it irritated my intestines somehow. Oh well, anybody with the same issue? I feel that I could have lost 10% just having a lean and green everyday with the medifast. I sure would be happier and more fullfilled.

Nancy,
Congrats on your weightloss so far!! Keep up the good work!!
I was on it for 12 weeks but I was allowed a lean & green every day until the last 3 days. I don't remember having heartburn issues but maybe one of the girls who are going thru it right now can help you better. How long are you going to be on it? When is your surgery?
I know that being on the medifast isn't just about losing weight - it was to shrink the liver & prepare you for the surgery & eating afterwards among other things. Don't beat yourself up too much for eating something but be careful what you choose. Call the dr's office to ask about the heartburn - they will know better if there is an underlying reason!!
Good luck!!!

Chest pain is not something to take lightly, I recommend STRONGLY you vontact your health care provider/bariatric surgeon to discuss this concern and to find out the next step. This should NOT be happening! Let us know how you make out with the f/up!

Hi,
Congrats on the 14 lbs. I was on medifast for two weeks and I had TERRIBLE heartburn and diarrhea. Come to find out Anne said I was allergic to the soy in it, so they switched me to slim fast which is milk based. I have lost 25 lbs... and Monday will be my 4th week on the diet...2 weeks medifast...2 weeks slim fast. I must say the weight isnt comming off as fast, but it tasts so much better. The shakes are milk based so more calories... but as long as I loose I am happy. Good luck!
