My surgery is scheduled for February 13th! Did all of my pre-op testing yesterday just bloodwork and ekg, have my time to arrive at the hospital I cannot wait!

I have been looking for a cookbook for after the surgery - does anyone have any recommendations?

Let me know and thank you!

Michelle, I personally didn't buy any cookbooks but check either Amazon or even Borders for books pertaining to WLS. I know there a couple of them out there. My sister asked me if I wanted any of them for xmas & I told her not to spend her money on them right now. I love to cook & have adapted a lot of old stand-bys to work for me after surgery & I will tell you things have been going great!!! I haven't had anything that hasn't tasted good or not worked for me!!! Keep it simple in the beginning - I don't know how you will be but I was terrified of taking those first bites of food!!! I stuck with loose scrambled eggs, mashed potatoes, s/f puddings, ricotta cheese & sauce, cream of wheat, chili (my homemade & Wendy's) w/shredded cheese & homemade applesauce to name a few... all with a bit of that protein powder added to it (they'll give you that at your first follow-up appt). Oh - check out this OH member's blog - she has some great tips & recipes too & she's a hoot to boot... http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/ If you need anything just give me a yell... Good luck!!!!

I got a lot of interesting recipes from the site that Cece mentioned. What an exciting time for you right now! You're going to do just fine. We will be waiting for you with an empty space on the bench that has your name written on it.

Michelle: Hi! I can give you resources to choose from but one thought is why a postop cookbook if it is just about healthy living (diet/exercise); eating protein first lean protein, followed by low glycemic index veggies andfruits as well as a few multigrain/complex grains and smidgen of healthy good fats... Any cookbook can be adapted, but a lo carb one such as South beach would be okay! I BOUGHT QUITE A FEW, BUT I AM A COOKBOOK FANATIC., do not hink I used many of the wls cookbooks!
