Update to Healthnet for Lapband

Anyone know if the prior authorization guidelines have been updated for 2008?  I heard from one dr's office that they have changed "6 mths medically supervised weight loss plan" to "reasonable attempt at weight loss"  If this is the case, does anyone k?now where I can find this info"? TIA!

All insurances and doc's are totally different, unfortunately!  I didn't have to have a supervised "diet".  I'd call your insurance and the doc you've selected.

Thanks Cheri.  My dr's office has their protocol which they base on the insurance company's protocol, yet I have had consults with two different surgeons who are saying opposite things as far as the approval process is concerned.  For the same insurance company!  I am just frustrated because my insurance company is also very close lipped about disclosing the prior auth guidelines.  And the worst part is, it all comes down to the benefits my company chose with the insurance company, which only complicates things more!

I have healthnet and heard there is a 6 month diet by my doctors office.  I have tried to get any info from healthnet and they will not give it to me, they tell me to talk to the doctors office. If you find out anything I would love to hear it. Karen
