Hi All,  I have a friend looking into WLS and is having trouble finding a HIP participating doctor.  She lives 1 hour north of Manhattan.  Anyone know any good doctors?  I stress GOOD.  Thanks for your help.

Don't know for sure, but my first guess would be to try the group that works out of Westchester Med... or if there's a group at the hosp in Putnam, or Vassar Bros.  Does Peekskill/Cortlandt have a bariatric group? Also... wanted to say HI to a former "neighbor".... I grew up in Montrose (first 26 yrs of my life) then lived in Peekskill on Smith St. for about 3 years before relocating upstate. If nothing else, it's not that bad going into NYC for surgery & appointments.  Certainly more to choose from in a more condensed area.  I did NYC from all the way up here, but mine was due to procedure, not because of insurance. Best of luck.

Hi Sean,

Nice to meet you and thanks for the info.  I actually had my surgery with Dr. Kaul and Cerabona at Westchester Med - they are fantastic, but don't participate with HIP.  My friend, how ironic is this..... is from Montrose.  I've done some research for her and it appears that Lenox Hill is the place to go.  Ironic also that one of the Westchester surgeons (Dr. Yatco) is leaving West. Med for Lenox Hill.

I've lived in Peekskill (Highland Ave.) for 13 years this June.  Originally from Pittsburgh, PA.

See ya around the boards.

from my experience, Lenox Hill DEFINITELY gets several "thumbs up", as does Shah and Roslin.  Can't speak of Yatco, as I've no personal experience with him, and don't know anyone who has... but if Roslin (head of that practice, and chief of bariatrics at L.H.) and Shah (my surgeon & Director of laparoscopic services at L.H) welcome him in.... then to me, that says something. Curious... has your friend lived in the Montrose area her whole life?  If so, we may even know each other.  Small world! best of luck to you and your friend.

I had HIP when I got my surgery and I agree with the guy who posted up above that the Lenox Hill practice(Roslin & Shah) is great and thaey will take your friend's insurance--and no pre-op diet required by HIP!
