Just wanted to say hello to everyone.  Well, tomorrow is 3 weeks since I had the surgery and I am down 30 lbs.  The funny thing is that I hardly notice.  I can tell in my face definitely and in my tummy but not really in anything else.  Funny how I lose 30 pounds and I am still the same freakin size.  Has this happened to anyone else?  Also, one question….when I eat I chew very well but it seems that the middle of my chest hurts.  Like I tried a meatball that was very very soft and mashed it up and no good, and sometimes pureed chicken does it too.  But I can eat pureed soup and it is fine or carnation instant breakfast and it is fine.  I can eat tuna salad with onion and feel great.  If I do liquids I can take in about 300-400 calories per day but if I try solid food then I can only eat about 150 calories per day or else my chest will hurt after eating.  Is this normal?  Thanks everyone!!

Its wonderful that your down 30 pounds.  You have to be patient.  I didn't start solids for 4 weeks.  It was hard at first.  I did the same puree my foods but still some got stuck.  I started to put my solids in gravy or mixed with mashed pototoes and it helped.  Just remember it takes time for your body to heal and get used to eating again.  Good luck and don't get discouraged.  It gets better!!! I get a funny feeling like the food is stuck most times when I eat.  I've found that eating a sugar free popsicle after each meal provides just enough fluid to help the food fini****s journey down my esophagus. Congrats on the 30 lbs.  You're doing terrific!

Yes...you are doing fine.  I had problems with "dense" foods...still do sometimes.  I found that I had trouble with "dry" meats...chicken, pork, etc...did better with beef.  I also ate alot of whipped lo-fat cottage cheese (Friendship, if you can get it)....lots of protein and went down well.  Its trial and error at first...and cheer up 30 pounds is great! :o) Rosemary
