Just popping in to say hey!

I had my lower body lift and brachioplasty on Jan. 9th in NYC with a very good surgeon and while I am no where near done with the swelling and bruising, I can see what my body is going to look like when it's all over and I'm very happy with it. I was very blase about the whole thing and decided that if I said, I'd have no pain, well, I'd have no pain.  Until I felt like I got broadsided by a Mac truck, but that was really the first day and every day after has been so much better.  The first day after my surgery, I really questioned what I had gotten myself into but that didn't last.  I am not sure if I knew then what I know now, I'd have done both procedures together, but it's done and over. I stayed two nights in the hospital, two nights at a guest residence with my hubby and son and then I spent a week at my mother's being pampered and catered to.  I had a wonderful time with my mother since it's the first time in a long time that I stayed over with her.  She accompanied me to my follow ups with the surgeon and we did a couple of trips into Penn Station.  It was just very relaxing and stress free. Tomorrow I go back to work and I am soooo not looking forward to it.  I love my job but I tend to completely get away from it and when I get back into it, it's more than 9 to 5, so I'm not looking forward to embracing that again.  I'm going to see if I can take it slowly but I don't know what I'm going back to either. I hope everyone here has been well and most importantly, staying warm today. Take care, Sue

You have to stay in shape. My grandmother, she started walking five miles a day when she was 60. She's 97 today and we don't know where the hell she is. - Ellen DeGeneres

OMG Sue - Congrats!!! I completely forgot you were having that done... sorry!! I am glad to hear all went well!!! I know that is one of the things that I have been scared of since I decided to have WLS but my PCP tries her best to alleviate some of the anxiety!!! I mean, geez, I am at least 2 yrs away from even considering plastics but because I live alone it is something I think about!!! I am sure it'll be fine!! Anyway, take it easy going back to work & I can't wait to hear how things are going as the swelling subsides!!!!

Hi Cece! Thank you for your response.  I'm really doing well, just started back to work yesterday. How are you doing? Can you believe that so much time has already passed since your surgery? You're going to have to change your ID from phatty to skinny tho! Take care, Sue

Ha!! A friend chose "phatty" for me... apparently PHAT means pretty hot & tempting (I am so out of it sometimes)!! We thought it was catchy & so it goes!!! We will come up with something absolutely appropriate when I get to the point you're at!!!  Can you believe it's been over 3 months already???? Where did the time go??? I am fighting a cold but other than that I am doing really well. No problems & according to my scale this morning I've lost 110lbs!! Woo Hoo!!! I am so glad your first day back wasn't too bad!!! I know I'd be nervous about that!!! I hope the rest of the week goes as well!! You better rest up this weekend!!!!

Hi Sue, Thanks for letting us know how you are.  I'm glad you're feeling mostly better.  I know EXACTLY what you mean about your job, sounds just like me and mine. Please take care of yourself and keep posting. Take care,

Thanks, Karen, I still have a few aches and pains, but I can't believe how quickly I am recovering from the PS. I walked home from work yesterday (2.78 miles) and except for a little back pain (and major discomfort with the tight girdle), I felt great! Hope all is well with you! Sue PS - Why do I feel that girdles were created by someone who hated women?!

Good for you, Sue.  Congratulations.  You are very brave to do it all at once!!  Hope tomorrow isn't too much, too soon.  Take it easy on yourself as much as possible.   Take care -- Maria

Hi Maria, Thank you for your email.  I hope you are doing well now. I made it through yesterday, the only bad thing is while I was gone, my boss went through everything and changed my desk around and my job description and I am not happy with it, but time will tell if it works out or not. Take care, Sue

WOWEE!!!!  What an amazing procedure!  I've seen it done on tv.  It seems like they're pulling up pantyhose, but it's your skin, right?  Congrats Sue and I'm so glad it went well.  We did miss you around here for sure! Ug, I know what you mean about work, love my job, too, but it's never long enough when I'm away!

Hi Cheri, my heroine! Both surgeons that I saw before surgery (the one who did the work and one who spoke at my support group meeting) said it was like pulling your pants up but with the skin.  The weird thing was being marked up before surgery and having my surgeon literally pull the skin to see where it would meet.  Then I had to use the potty and left sharpie marks on the seat, lol. Hope all is well with you, you fabulous woman, you!  You look wonderful! Sue
