Hi everyone,  Stopped long enough to let all you  know that I received a copy of  my psyc evaluation and I passed it. I want to say that if you are going have the surgery don't go to Syracuse or Ithaca. The office staff lies or the shrinks staff  lie to the Surgeons or shrink. Believe me I know.  I am still have problems on and off with the ulcers I get on my legs. OH WHAT FUN THAT IS.  I also got a letter from a sleep lab in Syracuse that want me to get re-tested again for the C-pap machine. Whice I choose not to wear. If I am not good enough for the surgery then I refuse to weart this space helpmet. It is my choice and my choice alone. Your weight  does not cause this problem it is that little hinge just starting down into the esophagus. If weight is the major factor in sleep apnea, then why do newborns get sleep apnea? I turned 61 yesterday the 20th and the door's to the WLS are closing fast. I do not believe that these doctors care about those of us who have only Fidelis Care of  New York for insurance. I wish you all the best and congrats for being selected for the very discriminating surgery.

Just to let everyone know, the insurance would have approved it. It was the two women that blew it for me. Doctors do tend to go where they will get paid more too.

Please don't give up...find another surgeon!  I am living proof that sometimes that's what it takes!  I also had problems with a surgeon's office. I became VERY discouraged and even gave up for a few months. Someone introduced me to someone who had RLS. He encouraged me go to his surgeon's office. It was the difference between day and night. Less than 2 months after my consult, I had the surgery!! I am not saying that you won't have to do some of the testing again. Truth is, if your insurance is paying for it...so what? If it means living over feeling the way you do now...IT'S WORTH IT!! You have nothing to lose except a little more time....isn't your life worth it? There are many of us who have had to "go through certain hoops" to get the surgery. Good luck, Joanie

Can I ask, if you live in Cortland, aren't you close to Westchester Medical? If so, why n ot come to our Surgeon's practice there. They are pretty good with getting people approved and generally don't have problems. Sometimes its the way papers are filled out.  Give it a try. Hi sweetie,

So sorry you've had such a time of it.  I believe  it's your insurance giving you the raw deal.  From what you've mentioned in the past and above, I can't imagine Syracuse not wanting to perform surgery.  If I were you, I'd do what you need to (you've come so far) and wait for a formal denial.  Then, grieve it (or whatever the phrase is).  I wish you the best!
