Dr. Ward Dunnican - Albany Medical Center
I wanted to let you know (and anyone *****ads this post on the message boards) that I attended the General weight loss surgery support meeting @ Albany Med last night (Thurs 1/24/08). There were so many people there this time. I have been to 3 support meetings thus far and each one has been incredibly educational, informational, and inspirational. We also got a surprise visit from Dr. Paul Singh, (who will be doing my lap band on 2/13/08) and he clerified and explained that Dr. Ward Dunnican is new to the Bariatric Team @ Albany Med and he will be performing and assisting with both the band surgery and the RNY surgery. He's new to the Bariatric Surgery Team, so there were some people skeptical about meeting with him, but each patient has the right to decide which surgeon they want to perform whichever surgery they choose. However getting in to see Dr. Singh is a 2-3 month wait. So Dr. Ward Dunnican has been scheduled for new patients for their initial intake and can certainly choose any of the 3 surgeons, including Dr. Rosati, Dr. Singh, and now Dr. Dunnican. I strongly recommend EVERYONE who is even thinking about possible surgery, to attend these support meetings for the general WLS support as well as the lap band support groups, which are held different nights. The next general WLS support group will be held on 2/7/08 5:30-7:30pm in the A-1 Clinic Waiting area. The next lap band support meeting will be held on Monday 2/11/08 from 5pm to 6:30pm in the A-1 Clinic Waiting area. If anyone is unsure of where these meetings are located within the hospital (it's hard for me to explain the exact location) feel free to call the hospital baritatric office @ 262-0942 and ask for directions. Or if you would like to meet me right inside the physician's pavillion revolving front doors, where they have valet parking, I would be more than happy to meet you 15-20 mins before the meetings right inside that area and I can show you where to go. Call me a support group buddy. I just know the more people that attend, the more we can learn and educate ourselves about the two different surgeries, and get alot of feedback on the personal experiences each person has had with their pre-op evals/clearances, their 10% weight loss requirement, and their exeperience post-op. I couldn't say enough how empowering and inspirational these support groups are. So if anyone is interested in going to any of the evening support groups for wls, please email me @ [email protected] and we can make arrangements to meet inside the front door of the physicians pavillion a few mins before the group starts, so I can show you where meetings are held.(for those new people, or for those who forgot, either way, let me know.)
I wish everyone continued strength, dedication, success, and happiness throughout their journeys to a heathier YOU !!!! Email me ANYTIME, and I will respond as soon as I can.
Hugs,
Doirinne from Cohoes, NY :-)
