I am two days into medifast and really having a hard time without having a lean and green. Does anyone know why some get a lean and green and some do not. I can't imagine making it through five weeks with just shakes. Also, what if any foods do lapbanders never get to eat for life? thanks really need your feedback.

Hi Nancy!

I'm 8 months out and eat whatever I want to, just smaller portions.  Can't help ya with the lean and green or medifast, never had to do that.  Prior to surgery in order to lose my 5% (lost more than that) I did Weigh****chers, causing some to say that I shouldn't have surgery if I could do lose the weight.  Ug, I always did great with quick fixes, it was keeping it off that I had the issue with.

Add me if you like.  I'll answer anything I can!

OH...to date I still have NOT had a diet coke or code red mt. dew!  9 months!  It's killing me, but I know the minute I take one sip...I won't stop!

Hello Nancy,  By now you are 4 days out with your medifast.  Hope you are finding it easier as you go.  I didn't have to do the medifast before my lap band surgery.  I was only put on a low fat low calorie diet and asked to try to lose what I could about a month before my surgery.  I lost a couple lbs!  grrrr I kept thinking heck I will never eat this again or that.. and had one too many last meals!   Anyway years ago I had to do a liquid protein shake only diet and I found the same thing... while I was bored with it after a week it got easier and easier as the weeks went by because I knew I had to do.  I hope you can just talk to yourself and get through it knowing it is only going to help you in the end! ....Once I had my lapband surgery,  I did have to do liquids only for 2 weeks then I was able to start having soft foods with my liquids for the next couple weeks leading up to solids in a 4 or 5 weeks.  The first couple days I was ok with the liquids,  soon I found I was getting tired of it.  I found though with each passing day it got easier for me to resign myself to what I was doing knowing this was my time to make a change that would last forever!   Here I am 5 months down the line and I too can eat most everything without a problem Some beef (stake) is a problem for me so I only eat the better cuts.  Carbination (diet coke)  is something I haven't had and won't was told that would be a huge no no!  I have said NO to ice cream, shakes  and stuff like that. knowing that it will be way to easy to get carried away.   I've had lots of health issues for the last 8 weeks that have been hindering and slowing my weight loss, not related to my lap band.  I'm still so thankful I had the surgery!   Its worth the things I don't have anymore! Hang in there on the medifast and Good luck to you in your up and coming surgery. Sandra

It's not what you never get to eat agin, but sometimes you nolonger have the desire to eat some of the things you ate before. Along with the shakes you should have soup broth, and skim plus milk. Once it's over and you start with puree and yogurts and cottage cheese, fish and chicken. It's also a mind thing, my mind tells me it's hungry and I am not, i run to the fridge to look for something, once i take a sip of water i am fine.  sip away to a new sexy you
