Hi everyone i was just wondering if anyone has Healthy New York Empire Blue Cross health insurance.  My husband and I just switched to it in the new year and i am so hoping to get my lap band this year.  Any advice, comments would so be appreciated, Im crossing my fingers that i'll be on my way to a healthier, happier me soon.  I"m off to my first seminar in Riverhead tonight! Hi, I don't have healthy New York Empire Blue Cross, but I do have Blue Cross Blue Shield for federal employees. My advice would be to call the insurance campany and find out exactly what the policy covers. When you call remember to record the time, date and the name of the person you spoke with. That was how I started. Than I went thru my provider list for surgeons in my area and checked them against the list of surgeons provided on this and other websites. I attended informational seminars for 3 different surgeons, decided which one I liked. Than I spoke to my PCP to get his recommendation for which surgeon he perferred. If you have any other questions, please feel free to respond or send me a PM. I am by no means an expert, but I began this journey about 4 months ago and I'm meeting with the surgeon on the 22 of this month. Got all the evaluation stuff done.  Good Luck!!!!
