Is it just me?????????

No matter how hard I try or what I do I just can't find exercising fun or enjoyable.   I hear people on here who just fall in love with exercising after surgery and I wanted so badly to be one of those people but it is just not happening.  I am almost 8 months from surgery and that desire to "want" to exercise just isn't happening.   I hadn't been to curves in 2 weeks because of the holidays and I didn't miss it at all.  I made myself go back today and wasn't any happier and didn't enjoy it any more.   I am just beside myself.  I know how important it is to exercise, but that doesn't make me like it any better.   I have been going to curves for almost 3 months now so it should be habit and I should miss it when I don't go, right?   After reading the posts I really feel like I am the only one who feels this way.   Am I really alone or are there others who are beating themselves up over it like I am and just not saying anything?   Just curious. Sally, Hun you are NOT alone in this.....I for one HATE the work outs and also would love to fall IN LOVE with exercise! I do have to say that when I do it, it feels so good after and it really does help me feel so much better when I am doing it on a regular basis. I wish I would have made myself do it right after the surgery instead of waiting 1 year out!!! Just know you are NOT alone and it will be something we have to try and get done everyday! ~Hugs~

You are DEFINATELY not alone!  The only time I loved exercise was about 10 years ago when walked w/a girlfriend & our dogs every morning.  Never could get back there. Now I'm lucky if I can roll out of bed & get to work on time!  I'm going downstairs to try to make 10 minutes on the d**m elliptical!

I strongly dislike sweating and exercising. However, when I do , I get a strong sense of accomplishment afterwards. Anything  that happens there after during the rest of the day, at least I fulfilled one thing worth while. Not to be corny, but I do get motivated by thinking of the people that I know and those of which I have lost who would do anything in the world to have the chance get up out of their wheel chairs and use their two good legs. I try to do it for them. Really. But no, I do not love it.

Thank you for letting me know I am not alone.     I guess I will just continue to plug away and make myself exercise and hope that someday I will come to enjoy it.   Everyone here on OH is so wonderful.    Thanks again Sally

I am not real excited about excercise either. I never got those endorphins or any of that other crap when I did it in the past. The one excercise I have always like though was the pool. Just walking in the pool makes me feel better. Fortunately we have one close by that is inside and heated. What I hate about that though is the changing afterwards in front of everyone. I have to "suck it up" and do it now.....I promised myself I would do what it takes to win this battle if only I was approved for the surgery. How can I not do it now so close to the date I had the surgery? My word is supposed to be my promise soooooo...... good luck hun...anyone you could buddy-up with?? Joanie
