Walking and the Weather
Being most of us are from NYS the weather can be kind of funky when it comes to walking. I'm not sure if anyone else has ever mentioned this on here or not but I've found an alternative. I mean, yes, you can buy a walking tape and do it indoors or you can use a treadmill, etc. but what I do is crank the tunes (I prefer country....Trace Adkins, Craig Morgan, etc....don't beat me for it ) and DANCE!!! I love to dance. It's great and the time flies!
How many others of you have done this?
Years ago, when I had my best weightloss I did Jody watleys dance tape, Did it everyday it was so much fun. I love to dance. I actually was so into an informercial the other day....Hip Hop abs and I came really close to ordering it, except then I found it online and downloaded it so once I am ready I will use them. I can't do much of anything exercise wise now cause of my recent knee surgery, this weather is making my heeling time seem to take much longer.
hey i havent had wls yet but i am trying to maintain my weight so i do dance i dance with my girls they dance alot of crunk & crank music oh my God you will get your work out it is a lot of fun too i wish i could walk now every time i want to walk it snows or ices but i make it up with the dancing good luck with yours
I like this post because I walk so much and only take the bus when it is really frigid or the wind is biting. Otherwise, I wear two shirts, pants with hose or tights, a sweatshirt, hat, scarf, gloves and a coat. I bundle up almost as much as I used to dress my boys when they were little (I wish I could find an adult snowsuit like they make for toddlers!)
I would never survive my walk without my Ipod tho! It keeps me sane on my walk back and forth from work. It also helps when I do get to the gym and hit the treadmill. I know there have been countless times I start to peter out and just when I am about to finish my time, a song like Hips Don't Lie will come on and perk me up for the final stretch!
People would think I am nuts with what I have on my Ipod (from Donny and Marie - hey, it's embarrassing, but I grew up with them, to Spanish ballads, to Joe Nichols, to Jimmy Cliff, to Irish songs, etc,) there's a mix of stuff on there and it's fun to shuffle the songs as I walk merrily along.
Sue
Sue, they do make snowsuits for adults...like for skiing or snowmobiling
. You'd be all set if you had one of those!
Don't be embarrassed about the music. We are all different and like different things! I hesitated about mentioning country music but hey that's just me and what I like so why not? I can't be the only country lover on this board
.
