Dawn, I have NEVER heard that "gastric bypass people are proned to diseases and infections"  what specialist said this to you?   The only thing I know is that it cures many obesity related diseases and that we on this forum are proof of that.   I think you should get a second opinion before you continue treatment with this so called "specialist"! Good luck to you.

Definitely get a second opinion...  and OMG...PRONE to disease and infections???  Whoever told you that is F'in Cracked!  Please for your own sake get a second opinion and make sure you get it in writing.  I have never heard of any WLS causing you to have Lupis or any auto immune disease...

Blessed be

Hi Dawn,

I have to agree with everyone else's comments: Auto-Immune diseases can not come from WLS!!!
Vitamin Deficiencies? YES

But Auto-Immune diseases are not possibly caused by WLS!
Please get a 2nd opinion! Have your WLS Surgeon refer you to someone whom understands what WLS is all about.

Good luck to you; please keep us posted...we all care.

Hugs,
Karen PS: you might want to post a question about this on the Lupus Forum:  http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/lupus/
