Anyone have Dr. Rosati or Dr. Singh in Albany
I have my very first appointment with them on January 3, I was hoping to hear about some people's experience with them. I have no idea at all what to expect. Can you tell what your first appointment was like? How long after your first appointment was your surgery set up for, not necessarily including time for insurance approval? Anything at all you wish to share, the more the better.. I would really appreciate it. Thanks so much,
Tara
Tara, I want to say good luck on your appointment, I am going to The Bariatric Center at Ellis Hospital, therefore cannot speak personally for the group you are going to, BUT can tell you that I know two people who have had it done there and are more than pleased. Alot of appointments of course, my aunt started end of June and had her surgery December 17th, however that was her choice - she could have had it done in November.
I wish you luck - where are you from? From what I hear they are a great practice. Michelle
I've heard very nice things about Dr Singh, but I've never met him. His patients all seem to be devoted to him. My doc was Dr Rosati. He is absolutely amazing. He will not sugar coat anything. He would prefer if his patients could find a way to lose the weight without surgery, but once you do decided to have the surgery, he will bend over backwards to make sure you are ok and have a good outcome. This guy is not only sweet, down to earth, generous, patient, and respectful, but he's a very talented and skilled surgeon as well. You are in very good hands with him.
They way they do things always changes time-wise. You have to lose 10% of your weight pre-op by means of a reasonable dietary plan supervised by a medical nutritionist. Once you do, and you've passed all your clearances, then you have to schedule surgery, which is a 4-6 week wait. For me, the whole process from start to surgery took about 6 months, but it can take longer. Take the pre-op time to learn how to make life-long modifications to your lifestyle. These will ensure your success long term.
Good luck to you and feel free to contact me with any questions!

Everything went very well.. the resident came in first to grill me and probably see how serious I was about everything. I must have answered right because he talked with Dr. Singh and then Dr. Singh came in and we talked a little and I was accepted into the program. I already have a lot of the appointments scheduled, next week I have pulmonary and 4 hr seminar. The following week I meet with the dietician. The first week of February I have my psych evaluation. I started my new diet today so I am hoping that I can lose the 10% in the next 6 weeks so that I will be close to being ready at my next appt with Dr. Singh. I am very excited about the whole process. Thanks so much for checking up on me.
