ATTITUDE

                                                Attitude by C. Swindol

The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than education, than money, than cir****tances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important then appearance, giftedness, or skill. It will make or break a company…a church…a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we embrace for that day. We cannot change our past…we cannot change the fact that people act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude…I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you… we are in charge of our attitudes.

That is very true MaryEllen. I'm curious, if you don't mind sharing, what made you post this quote. Here's another that's very similar and was posted on this site by another member well over a year ago. Don't know the author:

I choose

to live by choice
not chance,
to make changes
not excuses,
to be motivated
not manipulated,
to be useful
not used,
to excel
not compete.
I choose self-esteem,
not self pity.
I choose to listen
to the inner voice,
not the
random opinion
of others.

Have a proactive day!

I loved it so much Rachelle, I copied and pasted it into a word doc, printed it out, framed it and hung it on my wall.

All about choice.

I just printed it and put it up in my cubicle at work.
It just makes so much sense.

Amy, I LOVE IT! I copy/pasted it into a doc so I can print it and hang it at both work and home! Then I googled it and found the author. Here it is:

THE CHOICE IS MINE

I choose to live by choice, not chance.

I choose to make changes, not excuses.

I choose to be motivated, not manipulated.

I choose to be useful, not used.

I choose self-esteem, not self-pity.

Hi Amy, Actually, I had received a copy of this poem at a support group that I attend and thought it would be great to share with my LIPO group and all my supportive pals here on the NY forum as well.   It truly rings a bell with me not only as a WLS Leader, but in my personal life and role as a mom, wife, daughter, sister, and also helps me in my professional life as well as my education and goals. Thanks for sharing the above poem, I'd like to share that one with my support group.  We usually have a motivational quote of the month as well as an occasional poem.   I'm glad you liked it!

Maryellen, I love this! Thanks for suggesting we hand it out at our Holiday Party; I think everyone loved it. "we cannot change the fact that people act in a certain way." So true! Hugs, Karen
