I had alot of complications, and I am in SO much pain. I am moving my bowels, and now the problem is drinking. I just can't seem to get enough to drink. Any hints?

Congrats on the surgery!!  Take it slow the first couple of days and just try and get as much down as you can.  Sip slowly .. find out if your doc says popsicles are ok .. I had a lot of luch with them.  Welcome home!!

HI and congratulations! Keep a water bottle at your side at all times.  Keep sipping throughout the day.  Water is your best friend right now.  Remember, no gulping...ouch!   I also enjoyed hot decaf tea with splenda (and still do).  I hope this helps you. Good luck and we are here for you if you need us.

sorry to hear about the complications....drinking is still a problem for me...just sip..sip..sip.  It has to be an effort to keep it up.  Every day will get better. Rosemary

Hi Tinamarie, Sorry you had complications and that you're in a lot of pain.  I was in a lot of pain too, even without complications.  Don't try to be a hero--take those pain meds. As for drinking, what helped me a great deal was those small dosage cups.  The pharmacy has them, they hold 1 or 2 ounces and I would drink one as often as I could.  I found the little cup was less daunting.  The nurse at Mercy gave me that hint, and it really helped. Take care,

Just think of it this way.... the worst is over.  AND, we're not dealing with a show storm this weekend (though it IS a bit cold out there) at this stage, Vicodin (or Percocet) is your best friend.... keep ahead on them.  Don't wait until you're IN pain to take them. Good luck.
