I had my surgery Tuesday afternoon at Ellis hospital.. I came home yesterday and I am sore as hell. Can anyone tell me what to expect these next few days??? Not sure when I should start eating jell-o or anything else. Thank you...

Welcome to the losers bench! If you're not sure what type of diet you're supposed to be on call your surgeon ASAP. Usually it's clears for the 1st week or two, but EVERY surgeon is different so you should follow your surgeons guidelines and NOT someone elses.

Tom Congrats on having your surgery!!! Who was your surgeon? I had RNY w/ Dr Clarke at Ellis so I am familiar with their program. I am not sure about the post-op procedure for the lap-band but I imagine it has to be similar since we are all healing. I was told clear liquids only after I came home for the whole wee****il I went to see them for the 1st follow up. I think I opted to stay away from jello... none of the broths worked for me either (they tasted lousy to me) so I said the heck with it & stuck to sugar free popsicles & water!! They said no protein drinks, no vitamins, no nothing!! Call the office & check with Chris if you're unsure. After you go for your first appt they will tell you to do pureed foods for about 4 weeks until you go back to see them again. I just had that 2nd follow up & was told to introduce new foods & to make sure they were chewed really, really well!!!  I wasn't in much pain when I came home - I was off the pain killers & taking tylenol by Friday (I came home on weds afternoon). They also told me in the hospital that I hardly ever used the pain pump... I really only needed when they made me get up!! Be careful & don't do too much. Drink your fluids even if you don't feel like it & try to get as much sleep & rest as possible!!! I was bored to death but glad I rested as much as I did!! I was back to work 2 weeks after my surgery!!  If you need anything just give me a shout!! Good Luck & remember to sip, sip, sip & try to walk a little bit every hour you're awake!! I paced my apartment... looked like a fool but I was alone & wasn't going to venture outside until my sisters got here that weekend!!! Cece

I had Dr. Clarke for the procedure. I am not doing to good with the pain,so I have been taking the pain pills. I had my gall bladder out i***** so I think he had to go through some scar tissue. I have been walking trying to relieve the gas pains. I have my first follow-up on Tuesday. I know all the pain will be worth it come spring time. Thank you for the support.....

WOOWOO congrats to you and to me to see another bander!  I agree with Jane...do not listen to anyone other than the pros at your docs office.  I did have gas pain for the first few days, but it went away quickly.  I made sure to lay on the side where the pain was greater.  The nurse told me it would break it up better.  Add me an ask anything you want about my experiences!
