Dee,  I do not know anything about Dr. Sapala, but I see that he has joined Dr. Ferzli and Dr. Castro at Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn.  I can speak very highly of both of them.  Dr. Ferzli did my surgery a little over two years ago, and I have also met Dr. Castro due to other issues.  Additionally, he did my friend's lapband surgery.  Ferzli/Castro have support group meetings every month in Brooklyn and Staten Island.  Why don't you go to one and ask some questions there? I am almost always at the Staten Island ones, even two years out.  You can gain alot of infomation from not only the Nutritionist, PA, and the Psychologist, but from patients who have already had the procedure.   I have copied the dates of the upcoming meetings for December for you.   S

hello~ I had him back in 2005 back when CORI was much nicer, & located in SoHo. I got the micro pouch. I think is a very good doctor.... i would use him again. The micro pouch, is another story.  Granted NO surgery is magic, but personally, i feel i can eat way too much! My mom had a lap rny, & she eats far less food... a few bites of food & she is full. I can easily eat a full slice of pizza, or more, or 2 tacos, etc. I have done it in the past, but now i choose not too. I really have to stop eating on my own.... so, for me, i buy portion controlled food, & try to keep my calories around 1200 to 1500 a day, to maintain.  I could EASILY eat more..... not a lot of help from the ole pouch. I also do a 3 or 4 day fast every month, where i just drink protein shakes for a few days, with no other food. This will give me back that "tighter" pouch feeling, for about a week. Just keep in mind that NO surgery is magic. Many who have had the same rny like my mom, say they can out eat a horse, after a year or 2. Any surgey will help you lose the weight, but it takes a lot of WORK & COMMITMENT EVERYDAY to keep it off!
