I have 15 more lbs to go before I can get a surgery date.  Who knew this would be so hard.  It's only 15 lbs!  I joined Curves last week.  Anyone have any suggestions? I don't want this to take forever!

I know what you mean!! I had to lose 44lbs pre-op & my dr put me on a 12 week Medifast (liquid) diet. It was hard but I did it & now I am down about 84lbs!!! It was worth it!!  Did they give you any special diet program to follow? What are you eating now? Maybe we can come up with suggestions based on that!!! Cece

Hi there,
I see you're a patient of Dr Singh. I had my surgery done by Dr Rosati, so you and I are part of the same bariatric group. Who is your nutritionist? I had Dr Alger and she put me on a Meditteranean Diet which, was slow and steady. I don't know that fast is what your goal should be. There's a lot to be learned about changing your lifesyle from this period of time. If you want the surgery to be effective long term, your commitment to lifestyle change is really important. Take the time to do things like making daily exercise part of your routine (way to go on the Curves thing, BTW), not drinking at eating together, getting your fluids in, making sane food choices, dealing with emotional eating...

It will pay off in the long run. Think of this time as your college study of WLS. Learn what you can. It will bolster your WLS "carrer" in the future.

Good luck!

I know that the only thing that worked for me was to start listening to my body as to when I 'felt' full.  As soon as I had that feeling I stopped eating no matter how much more I wanted or how much was left on my plate.  That wasn't the norm for me but my surgery gave me great incentive and it helped me to drop 20 lbs before surgery. Hope this helps! Blessings!
