As of yesterday, Dr. John Mecenas of Ithaca, NY sent me a registered letter saying that he will not be doing the surgery on me. I will never ever trust any bariatric surgeon again.  They just play G_ _  with a persons life and health.  Of course with some doctors I guess yur type of insurance matters most. I have Fidelis care of NY and let me tell you  now it is not one to get, because the doctors are money interested first.

Im sorry to hear that, but what reason did he give for not doing the surgery?  Was it the insurance?  I am sure if thats the reason there are many in your coverage that are great surgeons, just have to do alot of homework.  I had issues with my initiial choice and found the surgeon that ended up doing my surgery and couldnt be more happy.  Dont give up hope on all of them. I 'll  put it this way, the office manager for this doctors's office said I swore at her, which I didn't.  I was on my cell phone with someone who got my number and was calling at all hours thoughout the night  at the same time I was on my home phone with the doctors office.  Finally I told that personon my  cell phone  for the last time that my cell  phone number was private and to go fire truck herself. I guess the office manager heard me and thought I was saying that to her. Guess I didn't have mouth peice covered to good and her phone call didn't put me in a very good mood either.  I magine someone calling you at all hours of the night while you are trying to sleep and when you finally are able to get to sleep you get two calls at once and one is from the idiot who calls you all night long and the other is from the doctors office which is way too early.

Hey sweetie, Add me and I'll give you my surgeon's info in Syracuse.  It's going to be a little farther for you than Ithaca, but what's an additional 20 - 30 minutes if they take your insurance and I can guarantee their service!

Is this Dr. Simon with another Dr. by the name of Cunningham. If so, then I have already been down that road when the shrinks employee who checks out your insurance lied to him about something I supposedly said. Also, if you have Fidelis  Care of New York, you are lucky enough to be seen by these HMO's.

Sorry to hear that!  It was a long road for me, but I trust Dr. Simon with my life and always will.  I can't imagine that someone that works for the head shrinker could say anything that might hurt ya...sucks for sure!  Best of luck!

I want anyone  who is on Fidelis Care of New York to be very careful on the surgeon you go to .  I heard the best ones are in Elmira and there is no waiting one or two years either.  And they don't discriminate either  on the insurance you have. Don't get on Fidelis, because their doctors who are HMO's  are allowed to see and treat (surgery) on so many patients a month. Two barliatric surgeons and each one refused to do surgery based on a lie   by a staff member or someone who checks out your insurance provider.
