I am pretty sure that my doctor, Dr. Cole from the Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Horseheads takes Medicaid of any kind. Might wanna call and ask and plus they are a Center of Excellence as well.  They are a great bunch of staff and people and they will work with you to make sure everything runs smooth.

I am new here, so hello everyone :)

I was just reffered to CNYSP at Community General in Syracuse, NY for weight loss surgery (still trying to figure out what is right for me- Lap band or Gastric Bypass.) I was wondering if anyone knows if they accept Medicaid? I am a college student and that is the only insurance i have for now. Any help would be great!

I have medicaid (metroplus) and Dr. Scott Nguyen performed my surgery at Mt. Sinai in NYC his office is 5 E 98th Street between 5th and Madison. He is phenomenal. I could not be more happier and Mt. Sinai is an excellent hospital, clean and the staff, everyone from the cleaning staff to the Doctors was phenomenal. Here is a link to his profile at Mt. Sinai http://www.mountsinai.org/Find%20A%20Faculty/profile.do?id=0000072500001497138552

Just to add one point about ELLIS BARIATRIC's in Schenectady.
They ARE a CENTER OF EXCELLENCE!

My contact with everyone there has been Wonderful!
Dr. Clarke did my surgery, Dr. Panemanglore did my release from hospital (it was his turn for the weekend..) He was very nice also.
A friend is having his surgery done by Dr. Inghram... & he is very happy with her also.

Arnot Health Bariatric Surgery Program

My doctor is Sadhasivam, Subramaniam, M.D., FASMBS aka "Dr. Sadha" accepts Medicaid.
Dr. Robert Cole works with him also, but I don't know for sure if he is still accepting Medicaid.  Best thing is having your weight loss surgery performed at a designated Center of Excellence can mean that Medicare and Medicaid will cover the cost of surgery.

Specialty:

Bariatric Surgery

Locations:

100 John Roemmelt Drive, 2nd Floor
Horseheads, NY
Phone: 607-796-5936
Arnot Medical Center is a Center of Excellence by Excellus, BlueCross BlueShield and the American Society for Bariatric Surgery.

Hope that this helps!

the patients need just to go to the medicare site and inquire for medicare providers by either zip, state, specialty, or hospital affiliation, , cant get any easier than that.

Does anyone know if Medicare as a secondary insurance picks up what the primary doesn't? I called my primary insurance company today to double check on them covering a revision-and they do. I'm just curious if what they don't cover-I think possibly 20%-would medicare cover that? Maybe I should call Medicare tomorrow. lol I just thought since I saw this post I'd ask here. Thanks in advance for answers!
