Hey All, I really am going to drive myself crazy over this surgery.Dont get me wrong I am so happy I am going through with it, but the closer it gets, Im starting to panic. Im having LAP RNY on 12/18 and I just feel like I am not going to know what to do afterwards. I feel like Im going to eat the wrong foods, and I keep hearing everyone say to me I dont know what your going to do after your surgery (since I love to eat now) I tell them I just want to be happy! Did anyone else go through all of these emotions like you were NOT doing the right thing? I just needed to vent to people who actually understand! Nobody else truly understands what this feels like and I am trying to calm myself down! AHHHHH!

Every emotion you're going through is soooo very normal. A lot of us have experienced the same feelings. I know I sure did. After my Lap RNY 5/29/07, I had no choice but to eat the right things. Otherwise pay the price...pain, nausea, vomitting...not worth messing up over. Although the price for messing up was steep, it quickly taught me to do the right things. Now at 6 mos. out, I am a pro at it, for the most part. It will be just fine.  Sending you positive energy from Southwestern NY

Thanks for your reply. I know i just rambled on it didnt make much sense, but its like I keep reading on websites what to have to eat afterwards. I just want to be sure I am ready to come home and start right away, have the right foods to eat, have the right medicines and vitamins, protein supplements. ( i dont know what kind to get!) but i will keep studying all the facts and in a few weeks ill come back on here and be like i cant believe how ridiculous i sounded! haha thanks again

I haven't seen one person on here in any of the forums not have a mixed bag of emotions prior to surgery, sweetie.  You're going to do just fine.  Put a big smile on your face and know that life will begin the day you have surgery!  I love my life and all that this tool has given me!

Blessed be!

Your feelings are completely normal focus on CHANGING your life and your ways - think postive and KNOW that YOU WILL get to goal as long as you follow the rules and WORK for it!!! I  agree with you  - I found OH to be a "key" part of my journey. You can talk with people who :get it" ... its a great form of support.  Get involved in your december 2007 forum - it is a place wher all december surgery people can talk - this way upi are all at the same stage. Its great! hugs, Britt

Nothing - tastes as good as it feels -to be at my ideal weight :)

Don't worry....the emotions you are having are completely normal.  Its a roller coaster ride.  I felt the same way about eating after the surgery.  Just follow the Dr and nutrictionist's instructions and you will be fine.  Your body does help you in your limitations.  Once the weight starts coming off...it is all worth it. You are not alone and I would be worried if you didn't have these feelings.  There are usually reasons we overeat and they are connected to our feelings so I would strongly suggest you check out a support group.  Surgery can change how you look on the outside but it doesn't change who you are on the inside.  That is the part focused on in support groups and it provides you a place to explore all your feelings, emotions, questions, and thoughts post surgery.  So, calm yourself down by knowing you are right on track with your feelings and never be shy about talking about them.  We are here for YOU!
