I know everyone is different but I am just wondering what everyones pain was like. Did you have the morphine drip? Just wondering what to expect tomorrow after waking up. I know some pain but most say the gas pain is the worst. And walking, walking, walking will help. Thanks, Christine

I had open RNY and did have the pump where you can give yourself pain medication every few minutes.  They told me I wasn't using it as often as I should have so on day two I tried to remember to push the button more often.  I did not find the pain to be overwhelming at any point.   I did not have the gas pain because I did not have  it done laproscopically.    Walk most definitely helps no matter how the procedure is performed.  Good luck to you Sally

Christine, Yes, everybody is different...I only used the pain pump before I had to get up...bathroom and walks.  After I got home I used the pain pills for about 3 days...then the pain was do-able.  Don't worry...the hospital crew will help you if you need it. Rosemary

Hi Christine.  Yes, everyone is different.  I was in more pain than some other people, but then again, morphine doesn't work for me, so I had to have shots of Dilaudid.  I continued on Lorabab at home for at least a week.  Maybe I was in more pain because I had a revision from band to RNY, or maybe that's just the way I am.   I If you're in pain, definately don't stint on pressing the pump.  You can't overdose because it simply won't work if you press it before the pre-set time.  It's better to stay on top of the pain than to wait until you're in a lot of pain to try to control it.    You'll do great!

I hate to admit it, but I had no pain with my lapband to RNY revision I think though that the reason I was pain free is because my surgeon used the On-Q pain buster system on me besides having a PCA. When I was discharged from the hospital I NEVER even took pain meds at home. Guess I was one of the lucky few
