Just curious if anyone had been seeing an orthopedic dr where surgery is needed due to a torn miniscus and arthritis, or a poditrist that has given you countless cortisone shots, just wondering if anyone wrote out letters for either of these Drs and had them sign referring you for the surgery and if so anyone have any copies of those letters. My obgyn sent me a letter today that he sent to my surgerion recommending me for the surgey, just thought having something from them might help as well.

Hi Gina, I was seeing an Ortho Speicalist before surgery but I had already had my surgeon send the recommendation/request for WLS.  She did mention in her report that I was seeing the specialist and what kind of issues my knees were having.  If your General practioner didn't include that in her / his request you might want to have your Ortho Specialist send your insurance something too? That was all in Calif. and it was harder with the insurance I had to get the approval. I didn't end up going with the surgery there but  here (NY) my WLS just sent in the request and we got it pretty easy. I am so happy that I finally have help with this whole process!  My knees are a mess but beginning to get a little relief.   What do you have going on with your knees? Sandra

I also had surgery for a torn meniscus about 8 months prior to WLS. This info was included in my PCP's general report ( progress notes) of me to the insurance company. There seemed to be no reason for me to go that far, but if your orthopedic surgeon cooperated with a letter, it certainly couldn't hurt. BTW...my knee is probably 90% better since WLS. It is absolutely amazing. Take Care and Good Luck.

Hi ladies, I am having surgery the day before Thanksgiving for torn miniscus and also arthritis. I believe my Primary added about the artiritis, I am actually waiting to hear back from the coordenator at the wls surgeons office apparently he isn't happy with how my primary listed my weighins, He had someone in his office so he is going to call me back. I think that shouldn't be too hard of an issue to fix (fingers crossed) I will also mention to the coordinator about the surgery as well and ask him what he thinks I should do.
