Doc has put me on solid foods today.  He has suggested that I eat lean meats (chicken & fish).  Also stick to soft fruits and veggies, bananas, string beans .. that kind of stuff.  The weight loss has tailed off (down 25 lbs) but he wants me to eat first then come in for a fill in 2 weeks.   How hard was the adjustment?  Did you find yourself hungry?  ... at times I've been hungry, bu****er has killed it .. but will that work when I return to the office tomorrow??

I am not a lap bander (I had RNY), but I do know this: Everybody has a different response. What's true for one, isn't necessarily true for the other. Take it slow. Chew your food like crazy and take your time eating. Become very sensitive to your response to foods. This in the long run, will serve you best and help you control your appetite.

Good luck!

HOwDiE Partner!

I think 25 is awesome!!!  I'm getting a fill on Friday, 6 months out b/c I am feeling hungry at times.  It will be my 3rd fill.  I had 3 mini Almond Joy Bars on Halloween...tsk tsk on me!  I have really slowed down, only one lb this month (still have 3 days...lol) and it's kind of frustrating.  I guess I should look at my big pic...66 lbs and 24s to 14s/large/medium.

Make sure you have EVERYTHING you will be eating at work packed to take along.  Do not carry extra cash for take out.  You'll do great!!! Muah

Thanks ladies!!  I want to start a routine at work .. it's exactly 1 mile around the complex .. so I'm setting a goal of reaching the mile (non stop) within the next couple of weeks.  I'll take it slow .. and I've done it several times in the past but became lazy!!   I'm told I really don't have any restriction until I get a fill .. Is that true??  I have increased my protions, but only 3 meals a day no snacks!!  Only healthy foods!!! Ron

Hey Ron , Keep up the good work.I don't know about the lap band but with my RNY I know the weight loss tailed off for a while then started again. The body has to adjust itself after weight loss.I would plateau for a week or so then the weight would come off .Even if its a pound or so they all add up! The next thing you know your down 100 lbs! Take care, Bob

Wow Ron.... 25 lbs in just 13 days?  that is sooooo good!  Take it easy during your beginning days of eating.  Make sure you take small bites and chew everything very well.  I have had no problems with any foods or even gotten stuck but I have had some uncomfortable moments when I was concerned I hadn't chewed enough before swallowing, that has been the hardest thing to get used to!  Making sure you continue to get enough proteins is very important and now that your not going to be getting your protein in your liqiuds, but your foods, it is a good idea to maybe have those 2 healthy snacks along with the 3 meals.  I think that will help you at work as well.  I started out with String cheese or yoghurt.  Both are easy enough to pack up.   So far I haven't had a fill and I'm just over the 3 mo. mark.  I'm pretty sure I will have to have one when I go back in a few weeks because I'm feeling like I can eat a lot more than I used to and I am struggling with hunger.  I am still learning what is head hunger and what is real hunger but the weight loss has only been 2 lbs in the last 2 weeks.   Sounds like you have a good plan for yourself, just keep focused and all will be well.  Sandra

Sandra .. thanks soo much!!  Yesterday was my first day and I had grilled chicken.  I ate slowly and could not believe I could not finish an entire chicken breast (skinless of course!).  Man I could have put away 2 of those a couple of weeks ago.  I consider myself lucky on the weight loss, but in the beginning I was living on 3 oz meals per day!  I thought I would starve .. but here I am.  Hang in there .. you're doing well too and keep me posted on your progress .. Ron

hahahaha yep I sure do know what you mean... its still strange that even when I feel like i've "overeaten" it is NOT that much at all!  its crazy good!  Even now that I am eating more than I should.  I would say a cup to a cup and a half is good for me.. but I can eat more.  I just have to say NO thats good!  I think I am starting to look forward to the thought of a fill.  and no amount of fills will deal with the emotional hunger and sweets cravings I still battle with but I am fighting the fight and working on that one!  The worst thing I did was even allow myself to have any of it... now I am back to saying NO I CAN NOT EAT THAT LOL i want to be healthy! Thanks for the concern of my progress I'll keep ya posted! Sandra

Ron,      The adjustment is a "piece of cake", pardon the pun!  It takes 10-15 min. at most, is not painful and not a big deal.  Don't sweat it.      You may not feel mush restriction with the first few fills and if you do, it probally won't last long.  In the beginning I had to go for fills every 3-4 weeks.  Eventually the fills will last much longer and you will get better and better restriction.  Hang in there until the miracle happens.  Good luck!
