Happy Saturday everbody!!!!! ok so i believe before i have this surgery i might become totally insane.! things are moving along really well, i have all my clearances and im slowly loosing my 10%. THEN WHAM!!! I go to my first support group(loved it) and i fnd out no matter what the pulmonologist says i will need a sleep study. Ok ill make my appt just in case. So i call and they had an opening in just 2 weeks. Perfect , now ive covered my (soon to be shrinking) but. Then they call back and cancel it!!!! The doctors told them i dont need it. ARE YOU KDDING RIGHT NOW?????? DO I OR DONT I?????  And why they have me on the phone they tell me i dont need to see the cardiologist either. Apparenlty your BMI has to be over 50 (who knew)So i guess im just waiting to finish my 10% then ummmm.... surgery??? I somehow have a feeling ill be held up due to an appt i had scheduled and they told me i didnt need.  Just for sake of my sanity did anyone else feel they were going to go crazy during all this????

Yes, there is alot of hoops to jump through to get the approval for the surgery.  Just keep your focus and it will be all worth it... Rosemary

You probably will go crazy, but it will be for a good cause!  Don't worry because someday soon this will be all behind you. There's a seat right over here just waiting for you.-------------------> Take a deep breath and you will see how it will all fall into place.

Too bad jumping through these hoops isn't "real" exercise!!!! We'd all be in tip-top shape by the time we hit the O.R.!!!  I was lucky, I guess. I did have to have a bunch of tests but no sleep study & no cardiologist. I did do the whole pulmonary lab thing (I have asthma) & had an ekg & that was it as far as those were concerned!! I did have to have a few extra fun tests thrown in because my initial ultrasound showed my spleen was enlarged (CT w/contrast & visit a hematologist)!! But thankfully due to their vigilance everything is A-OK & while scary when it was going on, I am so grateful to Dr Clarke & his group for being so thorough... it's nice to really have nothing to worry about going in for surgery!!! And I can honestly say that when they wheeled me into the operating room I was not nervous one bit!! We were joking & talking football!! I surprised myself!! So, even though the drs, ins co & tests will drive you batty keep in mind it is all worth it in the long run!!!! Cece

I am doing pretty good. I got the last steri-strips off the left side incision & while it looks yuckier than the others did I don't think there's anything wrong with it. It's the side that hurts the most... or at least did hurt the most & it took a lot of "abuse" getting in & out of chairs & beds. I have a little twinge there right now but I'll survive!! I have been on pureed food since weds & so far so good. You should see the interesting combos I've come up with but I am getting what I need... I hope!! My big concern is getting in all of my liquids & protein so I think I am going to start using a protein drink for bfast... it'll be quicker & easier in the mornings.  I go back to work tomorrow... I know I am going to be exhausted but it will be better than staring at these 4 walls!!  Dr Clarke said it was ok & up to me... he said to use my judgement & since I have a job where I can come & go when I want I should be fine. Hang in there... it does fall into place!!! By the time I went in for surgery I was sick of Ellis Hosp - it felt like I had been there just about once a week for some test or another but at least it was a kinder, gentler place than some of the other hospitals in the area. Just remember to take deep breaths every once in a while... it helps!!!
