Pain in the chest ...gas ????

I went out over the weekend and bought protien shakes to have with 1% milk.  Now milk has always given me gas, but I thought it would be ok since it was not whole milk and the a portion was so small (3 oz).  I had a pain in my chest for several hours and it caused some burping! .. I'm thinking gas .. I wondering if my lactose intolerance is in play here.  Should I stick to shakes made from water?  Please post some thoughts .. I would hate to go through this again!!

thanks .. Ron

Hey Ron. You are doing so well and I'm so glad for you. It is quite possible that you are lactose intolerant. I know a few people that this has happened to post surgery. However, I don't feel comfortable giving any suggestions if someone is having chest pain. That's too chancey so please keep an eye on that and make sure it is nothing more. It's nothing to fool around with as you well know. If it ends up to be nothing more than gas and the milk is having ill effects on you, the doctor can prescribe an enzyme to help you digest dairy products. If not, try process of elimination. Not all dairy products will have the same effect on you as others. It's all trial and error so you are basically the judge. Usually you would experience a lot of bloating and discomfort in and around your abdomen if you are lactose intolerant. Please go to the ER if you even think that it could be heart related. I know...I know... I know that I am an alarmest, but I'd rather you be safe than sorry.

Morning!

Are ya still having those pains? or have they gone away?  I see you made the post around 8 last night.  If they're gone, most likely your intolerance/gas, but I might still call the doc's office and at least report it.  Hope they went away!

Well the pain has gone away!!  I began to think gas because it happened the night before when trying the milk drink.  Then tried it again once yesterday .. got the pain again .. so stopping drinking it .. low and behold the pain stops again.  I'm scheduled to talk to the doc today and will run it by him, but I believe that's the issues .. just wanted to get some other thoughts!!

THANKS!!!
