What Plastic Surgeon Accepts Medicaid and Community Care?
You might want to asks a medicaid representative. What I personally found was most don't accept insurance, period. Most insurance companies classify ps as a cosmetic, not medical procedure. The only time insurance will pay if you have documentation of rashes or back problems. The best chance to get ps covered is if you develop a hernia. Another option if you can somehow swing it is a medical loan; capital one pretty much will approve anyone. Good luck, Donna
I agree with the others as far as getting insurance to pay for plastics is difficult. I know for regular insurance (HMO) you have to spend a lot of time documenting your rashes and complications that your excess skin is causing. Every time you go to your primary physican make sure you discuss your excess skin and the rashes and problems it is causing. You will need dated photo documentation along with the documentation from your physician. If the rashes are bad enough seeing a dermatologist would also be good documentation. If you can find a plastic surgeon who will take medicaid and or Community Care you will most likely be denied the first time it is submitted. You then have to appeal the case and hope for approval. It is an extremely difficult process there is no doubt about it and you are going to have to do the paper work yourself. My only thought on trying to find someone is maybe a plastic surgeon who practices out of Erie County Meedical Center. They are supplemented by the government and can't refuse medicaid patients (for medical care at least, or at least this is what I have been told). Good luck with your search and let us know how you make out. You should have recieved a list of participating physicians with Community Care when you signed up with their program. If you can't find it, ask your case worker for a new one. Your primary physican may also be able to help you in finding a plastic surgeon. Good luck with your search. Great job on the weight loss by the way!!!!!!! Way to go. Sally
