Caffeine or No Caffeine: A Poll

I don't drink caffeine. But then again, I haven't had caffeine in many years. I drink decaf tea every day. I haven't had diet soda(which was decaf also) in three years. I'm fine without. I didn't think I would be but I am!

I don't have caffeine on a regular basis.  I don't drink coffee & haven't had soda since Lent. Maybe once in a while if I am out I'll have an iced tea which I am sure has caffeine in it but as a rule I avoid it. No particular reason why just don't drink anything with it in it.  Cece

Hi sweets,
I don't care what anyone says:

CAFFEINE!

I try not to overdo it, maybe 2-3 cups a day, but boy do I love it when I have my coffee.

I don't know whether or not it's affected my weight loss, and frankly I don't pay it much mind. I do know that all things in moderation is a lesson that this surgery has taught me over and again, and that includes caffeine. The all or nothing approach doesn't work. At least for me anyway!

How about you?

Hi Amy, You bring up an excellet point: The All of Nothing Approach. That approach is what sabotaged me in the past dieting attempts I had. And things could be worse: my coffee habit could have been something worse, like, say pretzels or shopping or sex, OH MY! As I said a few posts up: I believe caffeine HELPS with my weight loss. It speeds my metabolism. It's the reason caffeine is used in most Diet Pills (the ones sold over the counter). CAFFEINE RULES (for me!) You look great by the way. Please post some pics of the tummy tuck! Hugs, Karen

Caffeine Rules is right! Although a habit of sex and pretzels sounds pretty amusing too!
LOL!

I do drink coffee every am, and on occasion a flat diet pop(that may have caffeine).

I started this at a year or more out, but I dont think it had any impact on my weight loss.

I don't have coffee/caffeine anymore since surgery. It is now just a trigger for the cigarrette that I can't have either.  Coffee had a tendency to make me feel nauseated sometimes first thing in the morning, but of course I would drink it anyway. I like not having a caffeine hang over. Funny, but I do believe that it revs up the engine to burn the calories. I don't think that caffeine has any bearing on weight loss unless, of course, you put half/half and tons of sugar in it. Since I have stopped, they keep coming out with very positive articles. One is that it actually helps forgetfulness and deters early dementia. (Maybe I ought to think about this further!   )

Thankfully I stopped drinking coffee in June. I had been having, at least, 6-8 cups per day.   When I did eventually stop I had more energy and found that I did not snack as much (strange I know). With caffeine you go through higs and lows during the day. When I would hit a low I would hit the vending machine for a little sugar rush.

It was not easy. I suffered from migraine headaches for about 3 weeks after I got off of caffeine, iwas going through major withdrawls.  This is now my second time that I stopped drinking coffee. I had some decaf last month when I was in FL, and it made me want more so I do not even have that. I must say I am glad that I no longer have it and at this time I no longer want it!!!! What I do want is some soild food. How many more weeks on puree? I am almost 3 weeks post op and I am going crazy with this mushy stuff. But I guess it will all pay off in the long run, just like not having caffeine.

Hi lauren, First: congrats on being a LOSER!!!! Second: Them worst is finally behind you; it gets easier. And by WORST I mean sharing a room with my sister Lisa   aka Ziggy!! Seriously...you're on the road to a new and improved life. Yeah, the soft mushies make my mind soft and mushy after a few weeks but it's important. I can relate to the coffee withdrawal migraines; they were BAD for me too. I just find that now it helps with my headaches (and boy do I suffer) plus, as I said over and over, it suppresses my appetite. Plus the extra energy doesn't hurt! Oddly, I could still fall asleep after a 16 ounce cup without any problem! Stay in touch; call me if you want (send me a memo if you don't have my number, or ask Ziggy for it) Hugs, Karen
