Hi all!
I want to know is there such a thing as a bad vitamin for RNY paitents? I can not stomach the Optisource chewables any longer :yuk:
I just purchased from QVC the Natures Code complete vitamin With CoQ10for women under 50. I rather take the 5 pills a day than chew on 4 of those others. But I was wondering after I already ordered them ....will they be ok for me to take?? I sure as hell hope so! I just bought a 90 day supply for $60.00!!

Debi, All I can tell you is that my dr recommends Flintstones Chewable & a couple other supplements (calcium citrate, chelated iron & B-12). I'd be curious to hear what other folks experience has been!! Cece

Hi Debi,    I've seen those on QVC before and have often wanted to order them but never did.  From what I've been told though is that with RNY patients they want you to take chewables or liquid for better absorption.  I'm not sure what others have been told though so I'll be interested to see what replies you get.  Great question!   Oh and QVC will let you return those vitamins if you need to, I am sure.  They are good like that.

Thanks!
They did say they were fast absorbing and don't sit in your stomach.
My Dr did say I could take a pill form multivitamin but then I would need additional b-12 and calcium.
I asked about the Flinstone chewables and he said no. There isn't enough in those . So I guess every Dr is different...??

Thank you guys!!

My doctor says to take 2 of those Flintstones for adults that have had RNY.  I've also heard that Centrum has a chewable.   Interesting about the additional b-12 and calcium.  I use Nature's Sunshine vitamins and herbs a lot and I know they have a liquid b-12 that's good.

My doctor recommended the flintstone chewable and I got sick of chewing them so I bought the walmart brand of multi vitamins and they cost like $7 for 100 pills and I compared them with my friend who bought hers from a website on here and mine had more of everything and much cheaper. I broke them in half for a long time and now they are ok to swallow whole. I hope you like yours. Hugs, Chris

Deb; I asked Dr. C (well his nurse practitioner) about the optisource and she said that once we are three months out from our surgery date if we can not tolerate the chewables that they have a vitiman that you swallow that they sell in their office and recommend.   I am not sure what the values are in it but you may want to find out about that.   I know they really push the optisourse.  They aren't my favorite but I tolerate them in order to not have to take all the other things that are needed if you take one of the other vitimans not as good for us.    Good luck in finding one that works for you. Debi, At first I really had trouble with the Optisourse...but, now I really don't mind them.  I just don't want to have to figure out what combination I would have to take to get the same benefit...I am lazy, lol.  Please let us know if Dr C has any other options...I would be interested to know.
