just venting here: im kinda down in the dumps.......i definitely went back to work too soon, seeing as the job that i was to have no longer exists (resource room teacher) and ive been shoved in a classroom for 6.5 hrs a day with 21 at-risk 3rd graders until 10/5 when the teacher returns from jury duty. (must be some case!). supposedly after that, they will use me as an AIS teacher and I will pull or push in with small groups of 3rd graders. What's more likely to happen is I will be a glorifed sub seeing as we have 4 pregnant teachers all due before June. this irks me because we have at least 5 staff members who do NOTHING ALL DAY. why is it some of us work like dogs and others skate by doing the bare minimum for years and years, and we get the same pay? i have a 4 hr a day round-trip commute which is probably the only reason i am getting even half of the required fluid per day. its impossible to sip sip sip when im teaching. i got very dehydrated and as a result, exhausted to the point i called in sick thursday and had only been back to work 3 days. i did a better job with the fluids on friday, but.......im not hitting the 64 oz mark by any stretch of the imagination. eating. who wouldve thought i would say i just hate eating now. its a JOB, along with the drinking. i just don't look forward to it anymore. the moment im enjoying something is the moment i am now in pain because in my moment of taste bud ecstasy i didnt chew enough or swallowed too much at once.  i hear this will pass, and things will get easier. hope so.  oh: citrical creamy bites caramel ...theyre good but boy are they rich, Special K protein bar in chocolate delite is more like chocolate nightmare, ive discovered the joys of making protein pudding ...it really is tasty! ************End of Rant**********i know i know, icant take a bath yet, lol showers only

That's crummy with your job. There is nothing worse than dreading to go to work. What a commute you have...Holy Mackerel. I'm sure that everything seems much worse because you are also adapting to this new life style of eating and drinking. I can relate about not enjoying the food like I used to, but I hear that this will pass. Some tummies heal faster than others. You made me laugh when you said,"Taste bud ectasy."  That's too funny! Give it time, Lisa. Don't forget that liquids are also present in some of your foods. You have to definitely get those fluids in. I certainly hope that things turn around for you at the job. Hang in there.

Hi Lisa,  Im sorry to hear you're down in the dumps.  I'm sure it's the job that's contributing to most of it.  Hopefully after Columbus day it'll get better for you.   I know what you mean about the food.  I came home after a late day.  Had to be up at the school for meat the teacher night so didn't get home until after 10 and made a scrambled egg and since I was aggrevated with my son I couldn't get more than a forkful down.  My stomach just tightned up.  So I gave up.  I need to find some  other foods to eat besides eggs, poached eggs, egg salad, they're getting boring.  I've done chicken salad pureed... looks like hummus it's not too bad.  I have to make more meat balls.  That with the ricotta cheese.. very yummy.  Other than that I'm afraid to eat much of anything else.  I do eat puddings, yogurts, cream of wheat but I'm not a soup person so I haven't been doing any of the soups.  I have my protein shakes which aren't so bad.  I guess this week I'll venture outside the box a bit.  Perhaps something with beans.  I'm also struggling to get the water in.  But as I'm a desk, it's a bit easier.  I keep bottles by my bed too to sip.  I do drink 3 decaf teas a day and the 2-3 shakes, that all counts towards fluids. If you need to rant or vent in person,  you have my number, please feel free to use it.  I'm hear for you. Hang in there!! Jessica

Just hearing about your commute exhausts me!  I understand completely about the liquids...I still have problems with the 64 ounces.  I do my best.  Once your work schedule gets back to normal I hope you can have time to work on your diet.  Please don't let yourself get dehydrated...that wouldn't be good.  Good luck...KEEP THE FAITH!!! thank you rosemary :-) no, it would definitely suck if i ended up being carted off in an ambulance and admitted for dehydration. worse yet, if it happened at work and i ended up in the hospital close to the school...............YUCK!

Hello Lisa, I am so sorry to hear what is going on with you job. I wish I could offer you suggestions for work, but I can not. I can suggest a meal or two. This past week I tried refried beans, with non-fat sour cream. You can try blending them with low fat shredded cheese and perhaps salsa (if it is not too spicy). I blended it all together and it was very yummy. I also bought already made grilled chicken (from the gourmet food store) and purred it with Progresso (Lite) Italian Veggie soup (I took out the noodles). It was very good and it was something different. I also got chicken and broccoli from a local Chinese food store. (I took out the broc) and pureed the chicken with the broth from wonton soup and this way I was able to enjoy take out with my husband.

Hopefully you only have a few more weeks of pureed food. Hang in there!

Hugs, Lauren

sounds yummy. you wouldnt have been able to puree up some of the broccoli too?wouldve made the color a lil funky looking, thats for sure! i definitely need to expand my pureeing horizons. ive pretty much been eating things that are mushy or soft.......that i could chew up to oblivion. i went to lunch with my friend at subways... she got to chow down on a nice 6 inch sandwich (she had lap band on 7/10 )  and i got to spoon off the tuna from my sandwich and eat maybe 4 spoonfuls. i also ordered their broccoli cheese soup and had a lil of that. i feel so guilty throwing food away!!! i never finish ANYTHING! thanks so much for responding, and i hope your recovery is going better... i know u had an infection?
