I think I experienced foamies today!!

I haven't had a problem eating anything so far (knock on wood) and I'm always mindful of how slow I'm eating and how much I'm eating.

So today, I'm eating a hard boiled egg (I'm fine with them) and I'm not paying attention because I'm bsing with a coworker. I knew right away something was wrong. Pain in my chest, saliva running rampant, feeling like I needed to puke. It did go away after 10 minutes, but it was horrible while it lasted.

A harsh reminder to eat slow and chew well.

I think for the remainder of the day and tomorrow I'll just do liquids. I'm having some miso soup (broth) right now

Thanks Cheri. I am doing better today, although I still feel tender in my pouch. Still staying with just liquids for now.

Yep, that was the foamies alright. Be nice to your tummy for the rest of the evening, as you said you will, and you'll be fine. Eggs have a tendency to do that to a large number of WLS people when you have been out of surgery for a short while. Diane~~

Normally I can have eggs with no problem. I don't think it was the egg...I think it was me not paying attention to my eating. Bad Rachelle.

Welcome to your first episode of foamies! It does get a lot better with time, but at over 1 year out I still get a rare bout. Chewing slowly helps (and for me, not eating when you're upset!) All these mechanisms of WLS (foamies, dumping, reactions to certain foods) are a loud version of a healthy response to an unhealthy activity. Even though it's unpleasant as all get out, it's a learning moment.

Icky is right. I'm glad it didn't last too long, but I will have to take measures to not have it happen again. It was not fun.
