I'm starting a new t.v. show

It's gonna be called "The Slowest Loser," and I have the "starring" role. I'm so happy to see everyone's great weight loss on here, but so bummed about my own!  It's been 3 months & I've only lost 35 lbs.  I'm going to do fit-day for a few days, but I already discussed my eating w/Donna @ Dr. Garber's office & she thinks I'm doing the right things.    I personally think that my portions are sometimes too big--some days I eat a whole small tub of cottege cheese instead of half--I'm not one of those people who feel full after one or two bites. That could be because I have "nutcracker esophagus" -- the esophagus spasms & food moves down really fast.  All symptoms were removed by removing the band, but one can only hope for a reason!  I'll ask Dr. G. I walk about 1/2 hour a day --15 min to & from work.  I'm so tired when I get home that I fall asleep and can't possibly think about more exercise.   My labs were done and are fine.   I think I need a new anti-depressant, although my effexor is in 2  37.5mb tabs, not capsules, 2X day.  Yet another doctor I have to see! I'm getting really depressed over here.  I wish I had had the DS, although I didn't know about it at the time, and I don't even know if I would have been a candidate, "only" weighing 210 lbs.   Thanks for listening, and feel free to kick my ass.

No need to kick your ass, we all lose at different intervals. I thought I was a slow loser. Perhaps changeup your exercise. I walk 2 miles every day and it takes approximately 40 minutes. (I clocked it with my car and it is 2.2 miles) How are your protein numbers and your water intake? Sometimes changing things will work. When you say a small tub of cottage cheese to me that sounds like alot. What about measuring out 1/2 cup and trying that? Good luck and be patient it will come off....Hugs, Chris

Yes, Chris, the cottege cheese is 2 servings.  I eat it at work (not the whole thing, more like 3/4, but I just looked @ the package & it's 8 oz. total.  Maybe if I exercised I'd have more energy, instead of waiting for the energy to exercise.

Thanks for your suggestions, I appreciate them.

Oh, Karen - don't get down on yourself.  Thirty-five pounds in three months is A LOT!!  When else have you lost that kind of weight in that amount of time?  Also, keep in mind that you started on the "low" side.  You only weighed 210 when you started, right?  Your weight loss is going to be slower than someone who started at 350 or whatever.  Keep pluggin' along ... you're doing fine.  It's not a race.  You've lost weight and are becoming healthier!! I agree Karen. First of all congratulations on you 35 pound weight loss.  As for walking, I must say that I admire that you do this. I do not need to know the reason for walking to and from work but if you have an option, perhaps you will consider not to walk to work and save your energy for a more effective and focused workout? Again, I do not know if that is an option for you but it is just a thought. As for medications. I am sure you know that many medications can and do impact our metabolism, perhaps this is part of the reason? Mostly, please do not ignore the very awesome fact, which is you have lost a little over 10 pounds a month. This is not the swift way you are wishing for, however it is the balanced way. You can do the math, but if you keep on your current track, you will be down another 30 pounds come the New Year!    I wish you the best on your journey. I know that you are frustrated and I do understand that, but please do not let that get in your way of victory!!  Stay strong and keep the faith.

I think you're doing awesome! 35 lbs!!!!  Gone for life!!! You have to remember, you're a light weight, actually, a really light weight and don't have a lot to lose.  You ask the doc or anyone...as you get closer to goal, you'll lose slower.  No fretting, darlin...you're doing great!

Love ya!

{{{Karen}}} I think 35 lbs is GREAT My surgery is just 11 days from now and I look up to you! I'm going into this as a "lightweight" too, weighing 215 as of this am. I discussed this with my MD and I told him I would be thrilled to lose 10 lbs a month because then I would be at my goal in 6 months and the best part is he said I WOULD finally make my goal that I did come so close to with my lap band So cheer up, just think you'll be at goal in less than a YEAR!!!!

Karen, Yes, congratulations on your weight loss.  You are doing just fine...I think losing slower is actually better...its gives your skin time to "adjust".  Just keep up the good work! Rosemary
